The truth of the current times

I do not want to start the new year with a rant however the fact is that I am like many who are reeling under the current economic conditions.

• The prices are up and erratic this means the buying power of the money that you hold is going down.
  This translates to a situation where you have less disposable income in your hand.
• I do enjoy my Work however it is almost always filled with never ending deadlines which does not help one distress.

Does stress live rent free in your mind?

Work stress is a funny thing. It does not leave your mind when you log off from work. Rather it stays doing the job of keeping you stressed even when you are not working.
Thus a stress free game can do wonders for your mental health.

So I am looking at ways to be positively engaged to fight the work stress and at the same time not feel guilty about playful indulgences.

Talking of playful, I have been contemplating getting into or shall I say reenter Splinterlands for quite some time.
I got started with Splinterlands many moons ago and bought some cards, however drifted away over time.

Based on my own experience of the Splinterlands ecosystem I have come up with a few reasons which are compelling to increase my exposure to the game and be active.
If you are new to the ecosystem

Splinterlands is an established Play2earn card game

Started way back in 2018 as a play2earn card game built over a blockchain it has survived many up and down trends and has survivor stamped all over it.
I say this because many projects have arrived on the scene and have faded away over time however splinterlands has stuck around and has seen some amazing growth.

That survivor mode is what I want to emulate in my personal life growth path.

Currently the SPS token price is a lot lower than its all-time high price and that is one of the reasons I started exploring the project to make an entry.

My observations about the project are as follows

We can be involved and grow with splinterlands in multiple ways

• As an investor who holds or holds and stakes its tokens that is SPS & DEC
  If We were to look at splinterlands purely from an investment perspective then the price of SPS tokens looks interestingly poised.

Currently at the time of writing this post it is at $0.03 per SPS token. In its hay days the price of SPS had seen a price of $1.07
The price is quite low as compared to its all time high.
What is more interesting for this $15,235,702 market cap token is the 1 year chart.
Despite the bear season the price has been consolidating and has shown a rise of 35.2% in one year.

Why this look like a good chart to be invested in?

Following the news flow from the splinterlands ecosystem there are a few things to consider

• The project is actively growing and communicating the future roadmap with the community on a continuous basis
• Splinterlands has undergone organizational restructuring this means those of us who are assets in the game would directly benefit from the project growth as the game development is being handled by one part and the sale proceeds would flow into a decentralized DAO
  Making this already play2earn game a lot more decentralized as compared to earlier.

There are exciting times ahead for the players

There are plenty of opportunities to be active and grow as a player. I would indeed be playing the game.
I already have a play book so I just need some cards that I can either buy or take on rent.

I am super excited about the game. However a lot has happened since I joined the game. So the easiest path to grow with the ecosytem is to get hold of some SPS tokens which are the governance tokens of the Splinterlands game.

Today I start my splinterlands journey as an investor

I am going to buy my first trench of SPS tokens and stake them for some juicy rewards.
There are a couple of places from where to buy your SPS tokens.

Another place where one can directly buy SPS with your HBD is the hive keychain and its swap function for tokens.

I already have some SPS and have purchased 100 additional SPS this makes my SPS at 216.829 SPS that are staked and earning me a reward at 13.2% APR
This APR used to be a lot higher however over time it has come down.
This is quite a good return and better than keeping the tokens idle in my wallet.

Once I claim the reward I get as liquid in game SPS
I would stake all these SPS to maximise my returns.
The good part is that I can stake my SPS at the click of the stake button

However it shows only the liquid SPS available for staking. The 100 SPS purchased from the hive engine are not showing up for staking
To bring those 100 SPS into the game I would need to use the transfer function

After a short while I see all my SPS available as in game SPS tokens,
I simply need to hit the stake button to stake them.

Another good reason to have the SPS tokens as staked tokens is that in case one is playing the modern version of the game then the staked tokens can give a boost to the rewards that a player would receive.
