Web 3.0 and the Future of Work - Decentralized Workplaces and Economies

Source

Hi there everyone TheRingMaster is back again and I think most people that are already aware of Web 3.0 and use it don't fully get the picture of the true potential of this technology.

Yes we had a dip of the crypto value of Hive but that's just the value of the coin and not the value of the technology, so really if you're on Hive and hold the Token either liquid or in HP you really don't have anything to worry about unless you're selling. The reason I say this is because eventually the Hive token value will rise and I believe this because of my knowledge of the true potential of Web 3.0 technology.

It truly is the future, not just of the internet but our entire world.

Yesterday I made a blog about how Web 3.0 could be incorporated into the Government system of nations and the value it would create is enormous and very significant. From fair elections to a better representation of the interest of the people.

Web 3.0 doesn't stop there, it goes even further and in today's blog my aim is to discuss how Web 3.0 will also influence the future of "WORK" and "ECONOMIES".

The Internet Has Completely Changed With Web 3.0

Over time, the internet as we know it has gone through significant changes. It was once simple websites in the beginning and mostly controlled by whoever builds and manages the network. We had this situation until Web 3.0 came along. Web 3.0 is also called the "Decentralized Web".

This next step we took regarding the internet would alter not only how people connect and interact online, but it will also change the way we do business around the world.

In this day and age, the internet is not just for browsing and enjoying some social media time, but it's deeply integrated into business. Nowadays any serious business that wants to promote itself definitely has a TikTok page or Instagram account. This has been the effect of Web 2.0, bringing the power of Social Media into the world.

So we've seen what Web 2.0 has done in the business industry, the question is what will Web 3.0 do differently?

Well a simple answer is that we already know Web 3.0 revolves around decentralization. So a huge change would be how it would in a way eradicate the negative side of Centralization in Businesses.

Most businesses are privately owned and that means work experience in our world is controlled by huge corporations and the government.

Ask yourself this simple question, who decided that 9 to 5 work experience should be the norm? - that's what centralization has done

This centralization happens online as well. However, thanks to Web 3.0 power, instead of few huge corporations running everything online, individuals will be given more power over their data and interactions. Technologies like blockchain make this possible by ensuring secure transactions and transparent handling of data.

Decentralized Workplaces in Web 3.0

Web 3.0 is going to bring so much change to work in our lives. Decentralization brings one thing and that's "Freedom" it's priceless in my opinion. Where and how people work are going to be among the most thrilling things about the Web 3.0 technology.

With this change, traditional offices may completely disappear as decentralized workplaces become more common in our societies. Many individuals will start to use blockchain-based tools to work from home. That I believe is when 9 to 5 job era would end. Of course that doesn't mean we won't have company headquarters and some time- to-time physical meetings but it would be less stressful than a regulated job like the ones we have today.

You might ask, "hey isn't that no different from Web 2.0 online jobs?" - online jobs today are still Web 2.0 and are heavily Centralized and controlled by the corporations that create the jobs. With Web 3.0 we maintain the "Online" part and kick out the "Centralized" part. That's true freedom right there.

With Web 3.0 technology efficiently integrated into the business industry, teams can collaborate from different geographical locations thus bringing together wide-ranging skills and thoughts.

This is already happening on Hive at a smaller scale - Communities are built and funded, part of the funds are used to pay site developers, community managers or "MODS" and perhaps the top people in each community running the nodes. See, different skills and thoughts working together in a Decentralized community from different parts of the world. This is the future of work.

Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs)

DAOs represent another very important innovation in Web 3.0. These organizations are basically run by computer codes instead of human managers.

They mostly rely on blockchain for making decisions that are clear enough for any person to see while also ensuring fairness in the provision of incentives to contributors. This will make for more productivity and work can be done faster, seamlessly and without much effort from humans. The entire world is going autonomous with Artificial Intelligence but DAOs is Web 3.0's contribution to an autonomous ecosystem.

Business and Crypto Blend Seamlessly with Web 3.0.

One thing that Web 3.0 is so good at doing since it's built with Blockchain technology is integration with Cryptocurrency. We all understand that crypto is more than just a trading asset, it's a powerful piece of technology that would bring full financial control and responsibility to the owner.

From transaction speed to security and convenience in payments, crypto will make business financial transactions a whole lot better. Web 3.0 is creating new channels for people to make money, where they earn digital tokens or cryptocurrencies in place of the traditional payment methods.

This I believe would give freelancers and gig workers opportunities to seek jobs globally while at the same time ensuring that they get paid securely.

I believe this is one of the best advantages of Web 3.0. Most of the websites I tried to sign up to with the aim of working online had one issue, payment method. It's either the wallet they'll pay the traditional currency into is not operational in my country or they couldn't send the money to any local bank of mine.

This particular problem would end for all freelancers since the payment method would be crypto which is global, simply have a crypto wallet to receive your payment quick and secured, that's it.

How Economies and Industries are Affected

Now I stated earlier on that this is not going to affect just the businesses but also the entire economy.

Banks have been around for ages, pretty much more than anyone alive today. Most people used to rely heavily on the banks for loans and fund raisings. Blockchain technology and crypto enables peer-to-peer lending and fundraising without relying on banks. This would allow financial services to be accessible by many more persons. Banks have limitations and are also as centralized as the government. This means they control who's getting what.

Also fundraising on Web 2.0 Social Media ain't easy because it comes with so many influences that affects the effectiveness of the funds raised. From theft to the Social platform itself preventing the fund raising blogs or videos from trending. With Web 3.0 all that can be thrown out the window. Also crypto is transparent and secured so anyone stealing funds can be caught just be accessing and tracking the chain's public ledger.

I also believe supply chains of industries can heavily benefit from blockchain’s transparency and efficiency in tracking products from manufacturing to delivery, reducing fraud and ensuring product authenticity.

A lot of supply chains suffer this unfortunate situation. They make some units of products and find it pretty difficult to track its delivery which opens them up for theft most of the time. With proper tracking this problem can be solved easily and for less cost.

The healthcare industry will also experience good benefits from Web 3.0 integration. There's transparency and honesty in Blockchain technology which are attributes that I believe are too crucial in healthcare. From the price of drugs to improvement in the management of patient records as well as streamlining processes like the drug discovery itself and clinical trials.

To be honest friends the benefit of Web 3.0 integration is endless - I hope by now anyone reading thinking Hive is just some social platform with crypto incentives will have a change of mind. Hive can literally run the entire world if we develop it right.

The Challenges Involved and Things to Consider

Web 3.0 is so great with huge potential but as experts will always tell you, we're still in the early stages and there's a lot that needs to be fixed and worked on or even upgraded before we can have it run the world.

The first one and I experience it a lot since I use Web 3.0 more than Web 2
0 is that blockchain networks need to be more scalable in order to process huge numbers of transactions quickly and economically. When more users enter, there's reports of crashing and slowing down of the platform. However I realized that I experience this less and less since developers are constantly improving it.

Take for instance Ecency, I believe it's gotten a whole lot better than before, with less moments of crashing or slowing down. Thanks to the @ecency team and the main leader Good karma and of course I wont forget my mentor @melinda010100 , the App is getting better each week.

I see the same with other Frontends like Inleo and PeakD. There's constant improvement going on and it's not just Hive but also on other Web 3.0 platforms. I hope we see better scalability in the future.

Also, crypto regulations in societies is not exactly perfect yet. From how we would handle fraudulent activities to people trying to hack crypto exchange platforms like Binance. There's more work to be done in the Crypto space. If the whole world would adopt crypto, we need to tackle this seriously.

Also I believe privacy and security concerns are very critical for decentralized systems. Yes there's transparency but I think some information needs to be confidential and hidden from the general public, for the sake of individual privacy. So that calls for mechanisms to protect personal information and prevent cyber-attackers from staging attacks on people.

Web 3.0 is certainly a solution to most of the problems we have today and I'm very hopeful that as we advance this technology, things would get better.

I believe so much in Decentralization because our world is advancing rapidly, if with all this new tech and power we still keep things Centralized that's going to be like giving a narcissist an even bigger weapon. Let's hope for a Decentralized Web 3.0 future guys.

Thanks for the time taken to read this blog. As always I would like to get your feedback on the blog topic.

Hive alone can run the world, what do you say to that friends?

Good post ! Web 2 created a situation where small businesses were crushed by monolithic corporations. I may have a small business, but it's like working for a corporation without any of the safety nets of PAYE employment. If I don't obey policies created by Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook etc entirely for their benefit, my business becomes invisible to the world.

There's a bit of a race between Web 3 and AI to determine the impact of each. AI under the control of corporations is terrifying (Google have used it to push natural SEO out of existence). But AI used by independent, decentralised Web3 businesses could be amazing.

A lot of jobs will be destroyed by AI (from memory I think it was IBM who reckoned 2 billion jobs would be gone by the end of 2026), but we'll still need plumbers, electricians, farmers and any other trade that can't be done at a desk. Hopefully Web 3 will allow those jobs to be done by independent small businesses not minimum wage corporate slaves. But it'll require a few governments to be overthrown first.....

You're so right brother and did you say 2 billion jobs, woah that's one staggering number, for real we need Web 3.0 so much in our future. As tech advanced centralized organizations like Facebook will gain more power unless they're stopped by users transitioning to Web 3.0 I hope Hive does this very well
