Welcome back to the People's Guild.

This week we’re proud to welcome back @royaleagle to the show for a wide-ranging conversation on card design, market mechanics and the evolving meta behind Conclave Arcana. We dig into the success of the sale, the thought process behind Kelan Gaines and new voucher cards, and the ever-growing importance of supply control and staking incentives.

From node setups to lore readings (yes, including dancing pickles), we hit all corners of the game and community.

Enjoy the episode!

Conclave Arcana Sales Success

The team discussed the success of the Conclave Arcana card sale, which has already surpassed 3 million in sales in less than a month, with FatJimmy and RoyalEagle noting the strong community support and high voucher pricing. RoyalEagle explained that more vouchers are being burned than printed daily, which is helping to increase their value, and he aims to maintain a controlled supply to potentially lower prices in the future. The group also discussed the potential for introducing new items like mustache skins and pickle cards, with FatJimmy and Bjangles agreeing that vouchers serve a unique purpose in the ecosystem, particularly for incentivizing staking when SPS distribution ends.

Kelan Gaines Card Design Evolution

The team discussed the design and impact of the Kelan Gaines card, highlighting its evolution and strategic relevance across different leagues. RoyalEagle shared insights into card development, emphasizing the goal of creating unique experiences at each league level. The conversation also touched on the history and community aspects of Team Possible, the oldest guild in the game, with FatJimmy and Bjangles recalling its welcoming environment and early support for new players. They expressed optimism about potential guild improvements and the upcoming revamp of guild brawls, as mentioned in recent town halls.

Card Design Strategy Discussion

RoyalEagle shared details about his recent work on card design, including the development of a new voucher card and a unique "Tasoshi Drakamoto" card that combines elements from different designs. The team discussed the card's artwork, mechanics, and potential strategies, with FatJimmy expressing particular enthusiasm for the card's magic sneak ability and its potential to counter Hall of Legends cards. The conversation concluded with FatJimmy considering whether to use his BNB and SPS to purchase cards, particularly given the current discounts on Hall of Legends cards.

Card Strategies and Node Setup

The team discussed card strategies and recent card releases, with RoyalEagle showcasing a new black foil card. They talked about voucher costs and availability, noting that Kelan Gaines cards had significantly increased in price. RoyalEagle explained that black foils would be available through a raffle system in the arcane's, similar to previous promotions. The conversation concluded with a discussion about running node licenses, with RoyalEagle sharing that he runs his own node on a $50 machine, and FatJimmy expressed interest in setting up his own node using an old Raspberry Pi.

Game Pricing and Strategy Updates

The group discussed the pricing of Kelan and new cards, noting that they are priced the same at 11,500 vouchers for 115 copies and 100. They also talked about the recent introduction of campaign mode and foundation cards in the game. RoyalEagle mentioned that a bot owner who acquired many foundation cards has agreed to return them. The conversation then shifted to the artwork of the foundation cards and the filter option to hide them in the game interface. Finally, they discussed player strategies and the strengths of different splinters (elements) in the game, with earth and elves being mentioned as underrated options.

Game Mechanics and Ruleset Discussion

The group discussed various rule sets and mechanics in their game, focusing on the armored strike ability and its implementation across different attack types. They debated the effectiveness and balance of the current back-to-basics rule set, with Bjangles suggesting a bronze or silver rule set where abilities are capped at certain levels as an alternative. RoyalEagle provided insights on mana distribution across different cards, noting that 4-mana cards are the most common, followed by 6, 5, and 7-mana cards. The team also touched on the possibility of releasing new rule sets on a monthly basis to keep the community engaged.

Land Card Strategy and Market Analysis

The group discussed land card strategies and market conditions, with FatJimmy sharing his approach of buying rares for better value compared to epics, particularly when filling multiple plots. RoyalEagle demonstrated a land management dashboard tool that tracks card performance metrics and allows filtering by account name, which he made public on Github. The conversation also covered historical land sales from 2020–2021, where DEC was significantly undervalued relative to current prices, and Team Possible members discussed their successful land acquisitions in regions 26–29.

Game Economy and Transaction Updates

The group discussed various aspects of the game and its economy, including the upcoming land cards and their potential impact on gameplay. FatJimmy shared his experience with managing resources and staking for land, while RoyalEagle provided updates on the support team's efforts in QA and their work with Clay on integrating new fiat onboarding options. They also touched on the challenges of using Venmo for in-game purchases and the potential for new integrations to make transactions easier for players in different regions.

Facial Hair and Game Updates

The team discussed facial hair trends, with FatJimmy and Bjangles sharing their thoughts on mustaches and beards, while RoyalEagle shared his preference for short hair due to itchiness. They then shifted to discussing upcoming game content, with RoyalEagle expressing excitement about new voucher cards and conflicts cards. The conversation concluded with a reading of new lore about a dancing pickle character, which the team found amusing and appreciated the lighter tone of the story.

Community Praetoria's Content Initiatives

The meeting focused on discussing the new community "Community Praetoria" on PeakD, which aims to provide high-quality content for Splinterlands. Bjangles explained that the community has 35 subscribers and will use a 5% beneficiary to fund prizes for contests. They also discussed Tofu's impressive work on Splinterlands-themed games and variations. The group shared their appreciation for RoyalEagle's contributions to the community, and discussed potential future content ideas, including a possible episode featuring RoyalEagle and Lily.

Great chat as usual, good to have a guest back on. I enjoyed it with just the pair of you but seemed like jimmy was losing his mind a bit. Back to bronze/silver sounds like a great compromise for removing back to basics (i hate back to basics like most people)
