We talk Modern 3.0 (RB + CA), card balancing & game meta, expectations for CA, marketing strategy and townhall reaction, future SPS value needs and much, much more.

Enjoy the show! We'll see ya'll next week!

Chaos Legion Rotation and Impact

In the meeting, Bjangles, FatJimmy, and RoguePatton discussed the upcoming rotation of Chaos Legion in the Splinterlands game. They acknowledged the potential shift in player distribution and the impact of the rotation on the game's economy. They noted that Chaos Legion is the cheapest and most overprinted card set in the game's history. The team also discussed the potential effect of the rotation on the rewards system and the need for clarity on the duration of the team's financial support for the rewards. They also discussed the impact of the Soulbound card set on the game's meta. The team agreed on the need to design the upcoming card sets, Conclave Arcana, in a way that doesn't heavily rely on the existing set, Rebellion.

Balancing Cards in Splinterlands Discussion

The discussion focuses on balancing and testing cards in Splinterlands, particularly regarding the Nidhoggr and Tofu summoners. Bjangles expresses concern about Tofu's dominance in the meta and suggests a framework for adjusting overpowered cards post-release. RoguePatton emphasizes the importance of thorough testing before release, while FatJimmy supports addressing issues during the testing phase. The group debates the merits of potential card adjustments and discusses win rates across different leagues. RoguePatton points out that while Nidhogger may underperform in higher leagues, it has good win rates in lower leagues, suggesting it may serve a purpose for the majority of players.

Dual Element Impact and Reward System

The group discusses the current state of the game, focusing on the impact of dual element summoners and reward cards. They agree that dual elements have reduced the need for dragon cards, which were previously special. The participants suggest removing dual elements and making them rare promo cards instead. They also discuss the need to change the reward card system, as it creates a barrier for new players. Ideas include introducing new reward cards quarterly or on a timer, and allowing players to rent out their soulbound cards for glint. The conversation emphasizes the importance of making the game accessible to new players and ensuring it can survive independently of cryptocurrency market fluctuations.

Positive Reaction to New Marketing Strategy

The summary discusses the latest Town Hall meeting for Splinterlands, focusing on the new marketing strategy presented by Adam Walls. The plan aims to attract new players, starting with Web3 users before expanding to Web2. The community's reaction was very positive, with many seeing it as a significant improvement and the best Town Hall in nearly a year. The marketing team's credentials and business ethics were highlighted, along with their commitment to the project, as evidenced by taking part of their payment in locked SPS tokens. The summary also mentions upcoming improvements to the game, including an interactive tutorial and new battle layouts, which were well-received by the community.

SPS Value and Currency Distribution

The team discussed the value and distribution of SPS, the game's currency. They acknowledged the challenges of pitching the value of SPS and the need for additional value for staking. The conversation also touched on the reduction of SPS staking rewards and the potential benefits of SPS rental. The team debated the balance between ownership and rented assets, discussing the impact of new players on the game's success. The discussion also covered the potential for SPS to increase in value in the future, with some members suggesting it could reach a dollar in the coming years. The team agreed that the current market conditions and upcoming developments, such as the launch of Land 1.75, could drive up the value of SPS.

Season Rentals and Product Roadmaps

In the meeting, RoguePatton, Bjangles, and FatJimmy discussed the proposal for season rentals in Splinterlands. They agreed that season rentals could provide consistency and reduce the need for frequent market visits. However, they also expressed concerns about the cost implications and the potential demand for season rentals versus tournaments. They considered the possibility of having season rentals only for modern and daily rentals for wild. The team also discussed the lack of communication from the company, which has led to a decline in sentiment. They expressed excitement about the upcoming product roadmaps and the potential impact of the new sets, particularly Rebellion. The conversation ended with the team looking forward to the next episode and the upcoming developments in Splinterlands.

2 day rentals are only a problem due to Cl oversupply but that will be solve once they moved to wild in the next few months so changing it now does not really have much merit. I will be fine if the season rentals were implemented a year ago as it could have pushed for more rebellion sales.

Yea, good insight here, Saydie. I ended up abstaining completely from the vote (not that my vote ultimately would've mattered) but the good thing about a DAO vote is that it can always be proposed again and sent in another direction. Cheers man!

Woohoo! Thanks Beaker!

I sure hope so - I went really hard into Rebellion and it's already paid healthy dividends. If things continue to go as planned, I fully expect that to continue.

We'll see ya back next week dude!
