Hive Engine Witness and BlockTunes Development Updates
Hello everyone! Hope you are having an awesome week. I have had an extremely productive week myself. It's been nice, but very busy. Getting to hang out with my kids this week has been nice. My daughter and I are going to see the Ghostbusters movie tonight, so I am extremely pumped about that. Will do a CineTV review on it tomorrow or something.
But anyway, that's not what you are here for... Let's get into the meat of what my week has looked like and is going to look like going forward for the next few days.
Hive Engine Witness Nodes
So as you may or may not know, Hive Engine has a witness system that helps decentralize the second layer network very similar to how Hive operates. You have to have WORKERBEE tokens staked in your Hive Engine wallet for your votes to have any weight.
My @thelogicaldude witness has been riding in the 13th spot solid for a long time and has finally crossed over the 60k WORKERBEE voting weight level in the last week so that is awesome and thank you to everyone who has thrown your vote my way!
Last week, I also started up a second witness node, @hivelist.witness. It is currently a bit over 2500 WORKERBEE weighted vote and is in the lower tier of witnesses, but has already hit 33 blocks by the time of writing this. It is on track for at least paying for itself and possibly the back up server.
Ah the backup server... This one is currently getting set up on the new host. I was running on the Linode VPS host prior, but the price of the node for the resources needed was a bit pricey. I have since moved the witnesses over to Contabo which allows me to run 3 nodes, each with the same amount of resources, for half of what I was paying for Linode.
There are some definite speed differences when processing the databases, but now that I know what to expect, it's not a big deal. So I am essentially running 3 Hive Engine witness nodes currently, 2 active, and one is not an active witness, but the database will stay in sync so that if one of the others has an issue, then I can easily switch over to the backup node like nothing ever happened and will be able to address the problem node.
The Specs
3 Servers all equal resources
- 4 Core CPU
- 8 GB RAM
- 200 GB SSD
- 32 TB of bandwidth monthly
So I have been spending some time really getting to know linux a bit better so I can be a better asset to the blockchain. Once I have these all running as I want without any issue, then I will be looking into expanding to other nodes.
NOTICE
One rush to getting the back up running is that tomorrow, DEC 10 at 10:00 UTC+1 time, the @hivelist.witness server is going to be undergoing maintenance on the hardware side of things and I have been told that it will be down for about 45 minutes. This could cause the database to diverge, hopefully not, but I may have to restore the database on that witness after the host does their maintenance. Hopefully the backup will be ready for me to switch the witness over before that time, because that is going to be like 1AM my time... But if not, that witness will be down for a bit, possibly until I wake up and then by that time the backup will be ready to rock.
I cancelled my node on the old Linode host a day or so too early, haha, but I guess that is apart of it! It's all a learning experience!
So moving on to the future of the music industry...And what most of my waking time has been on the last couple of weeks, haha.
BlockTunes Updates
BlockTunes.net is coming along at an extremely rapid rate. We have been at work trying to get as much functionality running as possible before launch.
We have recently had quite a few people join in over on the Discord server and sentiment is seeming to be high on this project!
We were also able to secure part of the funding by selling off parts of my ATOM and OSMO holdings, which at this point were all profit, and rolling them into the purchase of the plugins needed to build in the BSC functionality.
The Store
So what got accomplished is the store features are all up and running with the exception of a couple of payment portals we are wanting to work in, but having a few issues getting the plugins to work properly. We will have some merchandise as well as some early releases from some early sign on artists. We will open up verification for early artists on Christmas day, December 25, and then will be opening up to all artists for whitelisting registration starting on Jan 1, 2022!
We have built in the functionality to allow artists to list their BSC NFTs and eventually their artist DAO investment tokens as products on the store. They are also able to be bundled with music and physical merch so you can sell items together!
Each artist will get a store that they will be able to customize and basically run by themselves if they wish, or, we will be offering a service for us to manage it for them. We will be offering this service on a per release or per product service.
Built in BSC wallet
Every account registered, whether a customer or artist, gets an built in wallet with your account. This account can be used to send your investment LP, governance tokens, and NFTs. It will also be able to be used as a payment option with the store. It is currently disabled as a payment option though as we are working out some bugs.
You will be able to manage your wallets as well. You can create a new wallet other than the default one, or you can import an already created BSC wallet.
Governance Board Sale Starting December 15th!
We will be performing our first major sale on the store starting on December 15th. This will be the Governance Board sale. This will kick off the investment side of BlockTunes on Binance Smart Chain. We are working on setting everything up to where when you purchase your chosen tier, the NFT and the correct amount of investment LP tokens (which are BEP20 tokens) will automatically be sent after purchase.
The NFTs and both DAO tokens are all on Binance Smart Chain so you will need to have BSC wallet address to enter at checkout to send your tokens. You governance tokens will have to be issues manually by a DAO vote. We have already distributed the first 20 governance token to the first 3 member addresses. All of this will be explained in the BlockTunes whitepaper that will be released in the next day or so.
BlockTunes Whitepaper being Written
So to just lead on into it. We are currently in process of writing and going over the final details of the project, token structure, gathering document links for our partners, etc. We are wanting to get everything laid out in complete detail prior to launch. We will be outlining the details of the DAO and the tokenomics of the project, the details of onboarding, BSC, Hive, and eventual Polygon integrations, talking about how Hivelist is playing a roll, and more. It's going to be a long on, so be ready, lol.
And be prepared to have the link sent to you as an answer to some questions that are documented.
BlockTunes.Social Community Will Be the HUB
If you are a musician or just a music lover that wants to get involved in the revolution of the music industry, you really should come and join the BlockTunes.Social community on Hive. It is going to play a very important role in our cross chain DAO system.
All of the DAO votes for BlockTunes will start first on Hive with a community vote. This is open to the ENTIRE HIVE COMMUNITY! The Hive votes will generally be ran using Dpoll.io and shared with the community. Each vote on Hive will go for the 7 standard days for a post cycle, then the vote will move to the BSC DAO where the governance token holders will have the final vote.
Side Note
We are hoping that we can raise enough funds with the initial DAO sales that we can afford to get a Hive Engine outpost started with our own Hive Engine Token, NFT Marketplace, and more!
We have a specific BSC wallet account that will hold the 10 out of 100 voting seats in the DAO so the Hive community will have a 10% voting weight! Once the vote has passed, we will activate the vote on BSC and it will happen on chain. This can be for anything such as our monthly withdrawal vote to pay for expenses, administration costs, and marketing, to having a say so in how the DEFI farms are invested, issuing, moving, or burning governance tokens, etc. All of the main details will be in the white paper.
Wrapping It Up
Was the best advise my granddad ever gave me, lol. But anyway, as you can see it's been a busy week and we are preparing to get everything kicked off in the next couple of weeks for BlockTunes while working on securing the second layer blockchain that we all have come to use for so many things!
Sorry if I have neglected some of my other things like the Pure Logic Podcast, but honestly, I haven't had anything very logical to say this week, head is too crammed with work thoughts, lol.
Once we can get at least the initial sale launched and running, hoping that everything is going to work the way it is supposed to, then I will be getting back to some fun creative content creation, lol.
Be Cool, Be Real, and always Abide!

So, Blocktunes sounds intereseting for the music industry on the blockchain. Great for music lovers to discover new artists
It's great to see another music community on Hive. Have you been working with the Music For Life group and the Music community (sponsored by OCD) too?
I have subscribed to the blocktunes group now so look forward to seeing what you have planned. If you need any drum and bass/trance/electronic tunes, let me know 🙂
No haven’t been working with them other than using the tag in some posts. Focusing on building our own thing really. And you know I love some DnB, lol.
This sounds very promising for any budding musicians. Do I need to get some workerbee tokens to get involved?
Is this related to the hustler tokens as I've got a small stack of them?
No this isn't the Hustler account, this is for @hivelist and the LIST token. I am thinking about using my backup node for HiveHustlers though...In all actuality, they all help each other, lol, basically sister sites (I own both, lol). But we will see. As far as voting is concerned, yes, you will need WORKERBEE tokens for your vote to count. Those also will mine BEE tokens as well, although it is in a lottery fashion, but you will occasionally get some BEE tokens with a small amount.
I'll check the BEE tokens. I've got so many tokens and little clue what most them do? 😂👍
32GB of monthly bandwidth is an incredible amount. Is that per server or for all 3 servers?
Is the amount of bandwidth for all of your projects or just the witness server?
Those are each server for the witness servers
That is cool. Speaking of witness servers I just put one online today under chris.witness
I feel like I am contributing to Hive-Engine in a positive way. 😀
