Trying out a 23 wins nature deck!

Hello everyone,

So as we all know, recently nature has been getting out of meta slowly, we no longer often see nature like we used to do before ever since other gods like war, light and magic have been getting more into the meta. I also have not played nature for a while even though it is my main god and the one I have the most matches with and the one I used to always play.

However, you might still come up against nature often and recently I came across a deck that got 23 wins in mythic in this weekend rank which was a little bit shocking to me so I wanted to try it out. The only problem with the deck is that it costs 0.1 ETH and it has some cards that are out of my budget or not feeling like spending the required amount on them yet.

So my only solution was to use my friend account since he spends quite an amount on the game and his account is like my go to when I want to try luxurious stuff :p but had to do this after he finished his weekend ranked games, so I got to try it out for 12 games and here were my results:

The deck

deck.jpg

Here was the deck I came across for a player called soulreaperjj. Surprisingly this deck seems like any normal nature deck yet still performed greatly, and that is why I was curious to try it out and see how much of a difference these couple of cards can make.

We also can not forget that the pilot matters as well and I was a little rusty with nature since it has been a while, but despite that my results were pretty decent and I felt like it went better than expected.

Matchups Breakdown

MatchupsWins/MatchesWin rate
Light2/4
Nature2/2
Magic1/1
Death0/0
War3/4
Deception1/1
Overall9/1275%

So I got a total of 9 wins out of 12 which is surprisingly good. The deck performed very well in many situations and I had many answers to many early game starts and was able to take control or stay equal until I was able to get ahead and win the game. The cards that I am not able to afford really made a big difference and they were game changers in many situations! Let's talk more about these cards:

Game changing cards

Iron-tooth Goblin

iron.jpg

Despite this card not being so expensive, but also not so cheap at the same time, I always hesitated to buy it. But seeing that now there are several annoying relics, with the Mace of Calling being on top of them, and also this card being the best relic removal because of the high durability it removes as well as being only 2 mana, it really made a huge difference to the deck and benefited me a lot!

Jaguar Staff

jag.jpg

I always liked the effect of this card, like having 2 damage and also summoning a 3/3 black jaguar every time feel very nice. And it really was, but it needs a full deck that synchronizes with it to work well, and this deck indeed was which made this card shine brighter!

Underbrush Boar

under.jpg

This was mainly the card that I can not afford at all and it really does make a huge effect on the deck. The random attack it does at the end of the turn is almost like a Canopy Barrage but with a 3/3 creature who might stay alive and stay a second turn. And almost a lot of time early game it can help you finish off annoying creatures and stay alive for only 2 mana which is huge.

Unexpected Cards

There were some unexpected cards that I saw in the deck, however after trying them I can see why they were added and they did have a positive effect and here is why:

Feral Shapshifter

feral shape.jpg

This was a little bit of a weird card to see in this deck but it served me a lot of purposes several times. The hidden that it has gives it more a chance to survive to next turn which can be huge in case you have a Sudden Bloom in hand for example and no target to use it on. Also a lot of times my opponent was so low but I did not have any cards to finish him off with, so this card did the trick.

Porphyrion, Dread Cyclops

porp.jpg

Usually this card is not seen a lot in nature decks, but also the ward and the increase on enemy god power cost is so useful to make it survive more which can either help you clear opponent creatures, do face damage, or make opponent use several spells on it to kill it which can be huge. Also gives more of a chance for it to be sudden bloomed.

Frost Giant Deadshot

This card is also not so popular among nature decks for the 6 mana spot, a lot of them use the Giant Pangolin for example. But usually in the current meta, and with this deck, the 3 damage is almost enough to do the trick as well as the creature surviving the turn unlike the giant pangolin which might die immediately.

Final Thoughts

Despite having a lot of good, effective nature decks out there, it is still very enjoyable and a good experience to try expensive cards every once in a while. Wish I get the chance to try the demogorgon any time soon and see how it feels like to have a 1.5 ETH deck XD

It is amazing though how 1 or 2 cards can really make a huge different in the deck just like we saw here, the Underbrush Boar made me turn the game upside down a lot of times and I really think it would have been much tougher without it.

It was good to come back to nature even if for a while, I am thinking of going back to it on my account with the cards I have but really have no idea what deck might be effective at the moment in the current meta and how many wins can it bring without 50$+ cards. Anyway it was a very good experience to try out this deck I certainly recommend anyone to try it if you have the required cards here is the code of it:

That was it for the post, hope you like and I wish everyone had a good weekend event, mine was pretty normal got 13 wins but nothing new or fancy it was with the same old zombie deck I posted last time so I will not be posting about it again. Hopefully next week I will come back with a new deck and more wins!

Made Love, Peace out <3

First off congrats on the 23 wins. I too used feral shapeshifter due to the wild tag this weekend, I will give frost giant deadshot a chance. I run Nefarious Briar for relic removal. Also, I think Henver, Grimshuck is busted late game, give it a try.

Henver appear to be so good its the 2nd most expensive card after dralamar so I was giving it double thoughts before getting him XD.

Sounds like we ran very similar decks. Us nature players follow MightyUncle very closely, and many of us keyed into his Sudden Bloom + Feral + Deadshot. This deck is a version of that with a few more tech cards. Glad you did well with it!

I'm not convinced on the Deadshots over Pangolins. Pangolins are excellent answers against Guild Enforcers and they really punish late pyramid wardens. Deadshots don't. On the other hand, Sudden Bloom decks don't want a ton of confused creatures. In several of my games this weekend, Deadshot not be confused was critical. I could guarantee going face before the Bloom. Decisions, decisions.

Exactly they both have there pros and cons pangolin is good in many situations but deadshot can be helpful also since a lot of times at the 6 mana spots all you need is 3 damage and a not confused creature to ensure you hit where you want to. I tried deadshot just to try something new because almost always I used to use pangolins

Wow 23 wins is impressive, i love to see decks performing so well without many legendary cards.

True the underbrush board though makes the difference price wise :D

Ahh, every time I see an Underbrush Boar played against me I always have to throw out the sheep emote 😂 It's just way too good at dealing with so many early game threats that I'm always so annoyed just seeing it. Great result though, I think Nature has proven itself to be a really stable deck to play in most metas.

Indeed his price reflects how valuable he really is! And true you can almost always find a decent nature deck to play with although it has not been so meta lately

I feel its very situational depending also on what type of deck you come up against. They both have there pros and cons
