My Deck for this Weekend Ranked
Hello everyone,
So this weekend I will not be able to play my ranked matches as early as I usually do, but I have already decided probably what deck I am going to be using this upcoming week so I wanted to share that with you.
Lately, my best performing gods has been the magic god with the ramp magic deck that I used mostly and posted about before, and the second one is the goddess of deception with the deck that I posted in my last post but edited and tweeked a little bit.
Since I decided lately not to stick on 1 god to be able to learn the game more, I decided to go with deception this week and see how it goes hopefully I can get some good or decent results.
I have been performing pretty well with this one, although I know that weekend ranked game will be tougher I hope I can get some decent results and not just get wrecked. It will also be a little bit tough to get all of those 25 games in like 36 hours since I did not have much time this week to play them soon.
So in this post I will be sharing my improved deck for deception that I used and tried for a little bit and got pretty nice results in mythic:
The Modified Deck
So I made a few tweeks and changes that makes this deck a little bit slow than it was, this one has a little bit more goal of controlling the board from early one and not rush a lit, but still the more face damage I can get in soon, the better. Since it does not have any late game creatures, this deck I think can get wrecked if your opponent controlled the board hard early one, except in some situations.
Although I need fast games to finish up all my 25 games, I feel like I am not used a lot to hidden rush playstyle, even though I am also not very used to this one but still can manage better I would say. Now let's see the changes I made and the reason for each one:
Switches I made
One Jinxblade Duelist for another Uncanny rogue:
Since I slowed the tempo of the deck a little bit down, I decided that doing this switch will benefit it a lot more, because even though the Jinxblade can get so strong if he survives a bit, I feel like it is hard for him to do so, and the Uncanny Rogue ability, can get you out of a lot of tight spots and get rid of annoying creatures that might ruin the game for you.
Vanguard axewoman for Umber Arrows
The reason I removed the Vanguard Axewoman with Umber Arrow is because it can serve the purpose she does and even more sometimes which is getting rid of enemy creatures most of the time. So I felt like adding 2 copies of it will help me control the board more early on. Although sometimes vanguard is helpful to finish off some low creatures, however I goal is to try and not even let him have those later on.
Makeshift shiv for Inconspicuous Carriage
The Makeshift Shiv was a very good relic to get favor off of it and be able to buy stuff from the sanctum because of it. However, I figured out that the Inconspicuous get offer a bit more value from its protection which can be a breather sometimes to chill out on using a lot of cards and help you build counter measure for your opponent.
Strategies I am going with
There are a few things in mind I will try my best to do them against several opponents I have been facing recently. It is a way I would think will be ideal to do against those specific archetypes with deception to try and have the upper hand. I will divide each strategy alone below:
Against Aggro nature or light:
These decks usually might be a bit trouble against this deck, except if the starting hand was very ideal. A few things I love to do against both of these is not let them build the board of course. So getting face damage is not a priority in such case.
Ideally you would want these 2 creatures in your starting hand and use them to clear as much as possible without hesitation.
I also keep a rapture dance in might starting hand in case I got spells or frontlines that delays me from taking damage early on and then use it and mostly get huge value from it.
This for example is a great set of spells against aggro decks.
Against Aggro War
My strategy against aggro war will be close to the one before, but with having mostly frontline if possible with the combination of spells. Since aggro usually does not hold a lot of removal cards frontlines are annoying for them. In combinations with the spells, you should be able to dominate the board.
These 3 cards are very nice to have early on against aggro war, they can get you in control of the game most of the times. You could also hold on to a copy of Hunting Trap in case you think he might have an annoying Thunder Caller in his deck. But keep in mind, your priority against war is not letting any creature for him on board, war have a lot of annoying dangerous buff spells so keep clearing the board your main priority and if it is your turn and he does not have anything on board, a frontline is huge for you.
Against Zombie Death
This matchup is still frequent for me and I faced it several times while practicing this deck. The first card I look for is the Counterfeir for this annoying Necroscepter. I stole a nercro like 3 or 4 times before and helped me a lot to win the game. Although it will be hard to win if this counterfeit or a relic removal in the sanctum does not show up, but you have to keep trying and use the god power to try and get to the Cursed Obelisks as soon as possible.
Conclusion
Although I have been getting decent results with this deck, I am not very positive about it and I doubt that I will get past 13 wins because I am still not 100% in control of it and been making several mistakes :p. But as you can see I setup a certain plan and been practicing after posting about it much as I could and hopefully I will surprise myself.
At the end of it, I decided to keep varying even if I fail because I know in the future it is better for me to learn more decks in case the meta shifts suddenly I would be familiar very well with as much decks as possible! So wish me luck and I hope everyone is having great results and getting those desired packs!
That was it for this one, if you have any improvement you might suggest before I start playing this week let me know and I will make sure to apply them! Take care everyone and see you on the next one!
Mad Love, Peace out <3
It's a solid list. I'm always on the fence about Umber Arrow. Every once in a while it create amazing swings in board presence, but so often its just dead in my hand.
Yeah this is where the card draw plays its turn. Was very unlucky plus I made some mistakes this week so did not get very good result but wanted to try sticking with deception for the whole 25 games even if it was kinda bad :p
