The Riftwatchers Cards I Want
Like I have said before, every week there is something to be excited about with splinterlands. This week, all the talk is on the fact that the Riftwatchers cards have taken the battlefield. Just like everyone else I am super excited to play with these cards and see if they are as great as we expected. Since I did not buy any packs, I have to rent these cards in the market. But there is a problem...
The riftwatchers cards are really expensive to rent right now for obvious scarcity reasons. The release of the cards has also caused the rental prices of other cards to skyrocket. Because of the high rental prices, I'm not playing the game right now and have not played with or even seen a Riftwatcher card in a battle. Still, I have checked out the cards and have decided on a couple that I would like to own in the future. I already talked about the summoners in a previous post so I will be talking about the monsters in this post.
For these picks, I will only consider the elements I play with which are Fire, Earth, Life, Water and, of course, Neutral. The picks are also based on how good the monsters are at silver level. Let's get into it...
FIRE
Since I stopped playing with Kron, I have not used the Last Stand ability. However, Tinderlock looks like he is going to be a really good card to play with given the Last Stand and Close Range combo. Playing at silver, I would also get that Silence ability which is a nice little addition.
We need more Magic monsters in modern fire. Thankfully, we got a nice new addition in Technowizologist. First off, Stun is a really useful ability especially in the Heavy Hitters ruleset. What makes this monster really attractive to me is that Fury ability. Since Fury does double damage to taunt monsters, this guy will do double damage directly to the health of any taunt monsters. That magic + Fury combo is really something to be scared of.
EARTH
I love my reach monsters and have hoped for a while that Earth would get better ones. Well we do now with the addition of Bramble Pixie to the family. That 4x damage and 9 health makes this green gal a monster you don't want to mess with. I just wish I could use this monster at level 6 because of that heal. Oh well...
Did is hear someone ask for a backline defense? Well, you got it right here. With 9 health, Uloth Dhampir can serve as a good defense against sneak monsters (except of course if the enemy has a sand worm ready to go).
LIFE
A fast sneak attack monster can make a lot of difference in a game. Life has always lacked in the quick sneak department but Dumacke Exile is here to plug up that hole. Not only is this monster fast but he will do a decent amount of damage to the backline. If only I could use Fury at level 5.
I already said that I love my reach monsters. Well, I think Corsair Bosun is going to be my favorite of them all. This guy is Life's version of Tide Biter but better. In the Explosive Weaponry ruleset, I would normally put Shieldbearer in front and Venator Kinjo after him but with Corsair Bosun, I have a way to attack from the second position. Definitely a must have.
WATER
A monster with snipe that you cannot hit can be a real pain in the behind. That type of monster is exactly what we get with Sea Stalker. With a 5x range damage and Camouflage, this monster clearly belongs at the back where she can just sit back and cause a lot of havoc.
Runemancer Kye is the type of monster that I would normally place in the second position. If she gets so much health with the help of the Life Leech, she can be a really good secondary tank. She can also stay at the back to defend against sneak. With so much health and Flying, this monster can really be a touch one to put down with melee and range.
NEUTRAL
With 3x range damage and 3x speed for 8 mana, Rune Crafter is not so impressive if you ask me. Still, I am picking him because he gets that new Fury ability right from level 1. I may change my mind on this one though.
Ah Coeurl Lurker! This is a monster that I think is really overpowered because what the heck! At level 2, this monster already has a high speed of 4. His dodge chances for both non magic and magic attacks go up significantly with the Dodge and Phase ability. Given that every monster would be forced to attack this guy because of his Taunt ability, I can imagine this monster being an absolute beast in the battle field. What a card!
Final Words
I just picked two monsters for my splinters to keep this post as short as possible. I will definitely but other ones that I feel are useful for my deck. Right now though, I think I will try to get these ones first.
