Splinterlands Goals For The New Year

2022 was a really rough year for the crypto and NFT space. Everyone felt it and everyone lost some money. Sometimes I just wonder how I am still sane after all the losses throughout the year.

Well, that year may have been bad for the markets but there were good things that happened too. One good thing that happened to me was that I discovered splinterlands and got to know a couple of great guys in the community. By this time last year I had never even heard of splinterlands but now it's a game that I am heavily invested in.

I invested a good amount of money in splinterlands last year. My assets have reduced in value due to the bear market but I am not too bothered. I still believe in the game's potentials so much that I have even set goals that I want to achieve this year. It would be wrong to start this year without some type of plan so here are a couple of mine;

Own 5 BCX Each Of All Rare Chaos Legion Summoners

Last year, I had the goal to build up all Chaos Legion decks but, due to some unexpected circumstances, I could not achieve that goal. I did manage to get enough cards for my Earth and Life deck, and just a few for fire. Now there are some changes in my plan.

I have heard a lot of people explain how important it is to own summoners first before monsters. Before buying cards belonging to any splinter, I always make sure to level up my summoners because I obviously can't play without a good summoner. With that in mind, I have decided to focus a little bit more on summoners. This year, I want to own at least 5 BCX each of all Chaos Legion Summoners to either rent out or combine to level 2. Since I already have Obsidian, Tarsa and Genera Sloan up to level 4, my goal now is to add Kelya Frendul and Thaddius Brood to my collection.

Own 1 BCX Each Of At Least 3 New Legendary Chaos Legion Summoners

I've wanted so bad to be in on the Chaos Legion airdrops but I missed a couple and did not qualify for the rest having bought just two packs. I cannot buy more packs because I cannot afford to buy the total number for a sure airdrop. So, I decided that a cheaper alternative would be to snatch the airdropped cards that I want right off the market.

So far, I have been able to get Uriel, Iza the fanged and Spirit Hoarder up to level two. However, the card that I am the proudest of is Grandmaster Rathe. I remember when this card was airdropped and I swore to get it and level it up to level 2. I bought the card and I have loved it ever since. Now, I want to own at least 2 more. I have my eyes on Jacek but I want to wait for the others to be airdropped before making a decision.

Own A Mylor!

This is probably going to be my biggest win for 2023. I used to use Mylor a lot back when I was still playing in Bronze and I absolutely dominated with that summoner. Recently, the price has been on the low side compared to where it was before the markets fell. This summoner would be a great addition to my collection. I may even buy 2, 3 or even 5 BCX but the least is 1.

Increase Rental Income To At Least 2000 DEC Daily

Sometime last year, I mentioned that I would become more passive and focus on increasing my rental income. Initially, my goal was to earn up to 10,000 DEC daily in 2023 but, after analyzing everything, I started to believe that I shot too high for a relatively short period of time. Now, I have really brought my goals down to a realistic level of 2k DEC by the end of the year. The last time I rented all my cards I was earning around 400 DEC per day so I believe 2k DEC is a realistic goal. Of course it would be really cool if I can shoot pass this goal.

Get a Coeurl Lurker (hopefully)

I remember when the stats of the Riftwatcher cards were released. It was an exciting time in the community that new cards were going to be added to the game. Back then, I made a post about the cards that I wanted to get and I remember mentioning Coeurl Lurker. Merely looking at the stats of this card, it is clear why many people want it too.

It's no surprise that this card is the most expensive riftwatchers card currently worth about $23 per BCX even during the bear market. I expect the price of this card to reduce in the long term as more cards enter the market but I really believe that it is a very valuable card and I just will not let it pass me by.

Reaching 5,000 Staked SPS

This year, I really want to put more thought into growing my SPS stake. Last year I had over 3k SPS of which more than 2k were liquid but I sold off the liquid ones due to an emergency. Despite the setback, I still believe that SPS is going to be a very important part of the game and I really want to stack it now that it is really cheap.

It's understandable that a lot of people look down on SPS in this early stages. Sure there are a couple of things that are not perfect about it but I think people should try too look pass the "flaws" and think about its potentials. The early stages of great things are never smooth. I know that as SPS starts getting more utility in the game, its value will shoot. This is Splinterlands official token and definitely not something to sleep on.

Right now I have 1,108.476 SPS of which 1,092.434 are staked. That number is going to grow a lot for sure!

Final words

Honestly, whenever I put my interest in something, I set goals for myself so I can stay consistent. Many times I don't achieve those exact goals but when I look back, I would have made a lot of progress. The important thing is to make sure there is clear progress. So, I will try my best to reach all my goals for the year but if I cannot reach some of them, I will not beat myself up. Rather, I will assess my progress and celebrate myself for the goals that I was able to reach. When I see that I am actually growing, I am motivated to keep up the good work.
