SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE! 🌊Nerissa Tridawn

It's another week for us to share our awesome battles. This week, we are supposed to ride the waves with the powerful Nerissa Tridawn. Let's get right into it...
NERISSA TRIDAWN

Nerissa Tridawn is a high mana epic water monster that I don't hesitate to use whenever I get the chance. Starting with 3x magic damage and 9x health at level one is actually pretty impressive. This makes Nerissa quite the force in novice and bronze levels! The damage of this monster increases all the way to 5x at level 6 while the health increases to a max of 11x. The catch is that Nerissa is relatively slow. Her speed starts at 2x and is just increased to 3x. Given that this monster does not have any abilities, I would have preferred it if she was much faster. Oh well, you get what you get.

The Combat Rules and My Strategy

| COMBAT RULES | ![]() |
|---|---|
| MODIFICATIONS | ARMORED UP, STAMPEDE |
| ACTIVE SPLINTERS | FIRE, WATER, LIFE, DEATH |

| NAME | KELYA FRENDUL |
| SPLINTER | WATER |
| EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
| RARITY | RARE |
| LEVEL | 4 |
| MANA COST | 4 |
| BUFFS | +1 SPEED, +1 TOUGHNESS |
Kelya is the only water summoner that I rented so I had to use her for this battle. The armored up ruleset is already an all round armor buff but Keyla will add an extra armor to her monsters. The +1 speed is also very important.

| NAME | LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR |
| SPLINTER | NEUTRAL |
| EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
| RARITY | LEGENDARY |
| LEVEL | 2 |
| MANA COST | 9 |
| ATTACK | 3X MELEE ATTACK |
| SPEED | 2X |
| HEALTH | 6X |
| TOUGHNESS | 8X |
| ABILITIES | VOID ARMOR, GIANT KILLER |
In my experience, players like to play monsters with magic in the armored up ruleset. This is why I have decided to place Legionnaire Alvar as the tank with his Void Armor. This monster already has 8x void armor but the ruleset would increase it to 10x. Also, Kelya would provide an additional an additional protection. 11x Void Armor is definitely something for the enemy to worry about.

| SPEED | 3X |
| HEALTH | 8X |
| TOUGHNESS | 0 |
| ABILITIES | REACH |
I love my reach monsters so much. Flying Squid's 8x health makes him a good monster to put in the second position because he can handle some blast damage. I have this monster at just level 1 but it should work just fine.

| NAME | DEEPLURKER |
| SPLINTER | WATER |
| EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |

| ATTACK | 4X MELEE ATTACK |
| SPEED | 4X |
| HEALTH | 7X |
| TOUGHNESS | 0 |
| ABILITIES | OPPORTUNITY |
Deeplurker's opportunity, high speed and high damage combo can be really deadly. He can quickly take out weak monsters before they get the chance to cause any serious damage. Let's hope he does just that in this battle.

| ATTACK | 3X MAGIC ATTACK |
| SPEED | 3X |
| HEALTH | 10 |
| TOUGHNESS | 0 |
| ABILITIES | NONE |
Now it's time to put Nerissa's 10x health to some good news. She is the first non-melee monster in the team and so she can serve as a defense against snipe if there is any.
| MONSTER 5 | ![]() |

| NAME | RIVER HELLONDALE |
| SPLINTER | LIFE |
| EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
| RARITY | LEGENDARY |
| LEVEL | 2 |
| MANA COST | 7 |
| ATTACK | 2X MAGIC ATTACK |
| SPEED | 2X |
| HEALTH | 4X |
| TOUGHNESS | 1X |
| ABILITIES | RESURRECT, INSPIRE |
This lineup would not be complete without River Hellondale. With all the armor going around, this guy's resurrect can really come in useful. Imagine resurrecting Alvar with that 11x armor! The inspire ability is also a great plus for the melee monsters.
| MONSTER 6 | ![]() |
|---|---|
| NAME | MAGI OF CHAOS |
| SPLINTER | NEUTRAL |
| EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
| RARITY | EPIC |
| LEVEL | 3 |
| MANA COST | 6 |
| ATTACK | 3X MAGIC ATTACK |
| SPEED | 2X |
| HEALTH | 6X |
| TOUGHNESS | 0 |
| ABILITIES | NONE AT LEVEL 1 |
Lastly we have Magi of Chaos at the back. His 6x health and armor from all sources makes him a decent defense against sneak attacks. Let's hope he survives.

The Battle Highlights

Strategy
I will focus most of my attacks on the frontline but deeplurker will maximize Hellondale's inspire while infiltrating the enemy lineup. This is a high mana battle and the most important thing would be a great defense. Thankfully, I have Alvar as a tank and a great plan to make him last.

Round 1:

- Starting with the summoner buffs, the two Kelyas increase their monsters' toughness and speed.
- Venari Wavesmith adds 2+ armor to the enemy monsters while Hellondale activates his Inspire ability.
- As the fastest monster, Djinn Oshannus starts with a 2x magic attack on Alvar's armor.
- My Deeplurker follows immediately with an opportunity attack on Feasting Seaweed.
- Nerissa, my Flying Squid, River Hellondale, Magi of Chaos and Alvar launch attacks on Oshannus bringing his health down to 5x and destroying his armor.
- The enemy's flying squid and Venari Wavesmith attack Alvar but just scratch is armor.
- Deeplurker and the feasting seaweed viciously attack Hellondale and destroy is armor.
- Sandworm sneaks behing Magi of Chaos and delivers a massive 5x bow that shatters his armor.
Round 2:

- Djinn Oshannus starts again only grazing Alvar's armor.
- Deeplurker quickly takes out the weak Feasting Seaweed.
- The enemy's Flying Squid hits Alvar but, again, just damages the armor.
- Nerissa and my Flying Squid work together to take down the mighty Oshannus forcing the cowardly enemy Fying Squid to the frontline.
- The other squid is quickly hit with magic attacks from Hellondale and Magi of Chaos.
- Venari Wavesmith launches a weak 1x magic attack on Alvar but his armor remains strong.
- Alvar hits the Squid in front of him and intimidates it.
- The enemy's Deeplurker takes the opportunity to attack Hellondale leaving him with just 1x heath.
- Sandworm does the same thing at Magi of Chaos leaving him with 1x health as well.
Round 3:

- Deeplurker, Nerissa and Flying Squid kill the enemy's flying squid but not before he destroys Alvar's armor.
- Hellondale and Magi of Chaos mercilessly throw magic balls at Venari Wavesmith. She does not survive and so her armor buff on the remaining monsters is nullified.
- Alvar and Deeplurker both attack each other with Deeplurker doing more damage on Alvar's health.
- Sandworm goes behind to finish up the Magi of Chaos but he is careless and misses.
Round 4:

- Deeplurker starts by destroying the sandworm's armor.
- Nerissa and Flying Squid take out the enemy's Deeplurker.
- Forced to the frontline, the sandworm is hit by Hellondale and Magi of Chaos' magic attacks. He does not survive. DEFEATED!

Victory!

A good defense is the best offense. This team was protected on all sides and in the end, only a few monsters took any damage with all of them surviving the battle. I cannot say the same to the other team.

Did My Strategy Work?

My strategy worked just fine. Firstly, I was able to protect my team from the font and back as well. Legionnaire Alvar proved to be quite the tank in this game enduring all the heavy attacks he was dealt. Magi of Chaos was also a decent backline. His 6x health saved him from sandworm's 5x sneak attack. Luckily, the sandworm missed the final attack that would have ended the Magi. Still, he would have been resurrected by Hellondale with full armor.
Hellondale did not get to use his resurrect but that inspire really helped. The inspire was especially useful on the level 1 Flying Squid. That extra damage was necessary for taking out the enemy's deeplurker before he could touch Alvar again.

Do I like Nerissa Tridawn?

Yes I like this monster. What's not to like? She may not have any abilities but she works just fine (at least in the lower levels).
Admittedly, compared to other high mana monsters, Nerissa is not so great. Still, she gets the job done in many cases. I like to maximize this monster's health. I mostly put her in a position to serve as defense against snipe especially in the Target Practice ruleset. She can also serve as a good defense against sneak attacks or even a decent tank in the Wands Out ruleset when Oshannus is unavailable.
