Hey there fellow splinterlands warriors. This week's Share Your Battle Challenge is going to be a fun one as it is with one monster that I like so much. Let's get right into it...

LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR

Legionnaire Alvar is a pretty interesting legendary neutral monster. For 9 mana, he is a tough guy on the battle field. His speed and damage are not so impressive at first glance getting maxed at 2x and 3x respectively. Where this monster's strength lies is in its health and toughness. The health starts at 6x and gets to 7x while the toughness starts at a massive 8x and ends at 9x.

Now all the Legionnaire's toughness comes in handy with the Void Armor ability that he gets right off the bat. His seemingly unimpressive 3x damage becomes deadly to 10 or more mana cost monsters when this Alvar gets the Giant Killer at level 2. At level 3, this guy gets demoralize which is a good way to reduce the damage done on that armor of his. Finally, at level 4, he gets the deathblow - an underrated ability that can be really useful in a one-on-one situation.

Since the ruleset states that the summoners would be silenced, it doesn't matter what summoner I use. So, I decided to use Sloan because he costs less mana for me.

Our hero for the day is going to be the tank. I love that this guy would not only be able to absorb some magic damage but would also be able to return some ranged too. What a menace to the other guys.

Like I've said before, I love my reach monsters. Well, there isn't so much mana to go around anymore but Sunkai Harvester makes a decent secondary attacker with the reach ability.

Now that I have my frontline attackers set, I want to see if I can cause some damage at the back. Sneak attack is a pretty good way to demoralize a team. Thankfully, the life team has the Stitch Leech with that 3x damage. Still, he won't be working alone...

Aiding the Stitch Leech in the sneak ambush is the epic neutral monster, Uraeus. Let's see if these two will be able to make a deadly team.

A team like this would not be complete without the zero mana extra added to it. Soul Fiend is not here to attack rather he is supposed to take some a hit from a possible sneak attack. Maybe, his sacrifice would preserve Uraeus a little longer.

Round 1:

• Due to the fact that the summoners are silenced, there are the buffs added as the monsters take the battle field.
• The quick Ice Pixie shoots at Legionnaire Alvar but his armor is merely scratched.
• Perceiving the threat, Uraeus takes out the Ice Pixie in a quick sneak attack.
• Sunkai Harvester reaches for a slice at Albatross and ends him.
• Now in the frontline, Flying Squid tries to attack the Legionnaire but is stopped by his armor.
• The opportunist Deeplurker kills Soul Fiend.
• Legionnaire Alvar does a 3x damage on Flying Squid but Merdaali Guardian quickly restores some of his health.
• Infuriated, Stitch Leech sneaks behind the Guardian and ends her.

Round 2:

• Uraeus starts by fearlessly attacking the Deeplurker.
• Sunkai Harvester does some damage on the Flying Squid.
• Deeplurker angrliy retaliates at Uraeus destroying his only armor.
• The Flying Squid hits the Legionnaire but just takes away some armor.
• Legionnaire Alvar returns the favor but this time, he does some real damage on the Squid.
• Stitch Leech goes behind Deeplurker and slices him leaving him with just 2x health.

Round 3:

• Uraeus wastes no time to eliminate the threat that is the Deeplurker.
• Sunkai Harvester bravely finishes the battle by killing the Flying Squid.
  DEFEATED!

Victory!

It takes a great deal of trust for a summoner to let his monsters fight on their own. Well, the life team was properly set up to defeat the opponent. Simple battles require simple tactics like this one.

Did My Strategy Work?

My strategy worked perfectly! I planned to not just hit the enemy from the front but from the back as well. My opponent clearly did not see this coming and so left his defense unprotected for Uraeus and Stitch Leech to do a lot of damage.

Unlike the other side, my backline was a little bit protected. Even if there was no sneak attack, Soul Fiend was able to take Deeplurker's opportunity attack for the rest of the team. Also, when Uraeus was hit, that single armor saved him and he was able to defeat the monster that tried to kill him.

The frontline was also properly set up. Legionnaire Alvar's armor was so effective that the enemy monsters were not even able to destroy it all. What a tank!

Do I like the Legionnaire Alvar?

Yes I love this monster. I was able to recognize this guy's potential quite a while ago and decided to purchase him. Right now, I have this legendary monster at level 2 which is the max for silver league.

I have used this monster's Giant Killer a couple of times but what I really like about him is the Void Armor ability. The best part is that he is neutral and so can be paired with other monsters or summoners to maximize his ability. I like to pair him with Kelya or even Queen Mycelia for more armor. The more the merrier.
