Another battle challenge and this time, we are to tame the fierce dragons and use their powers to take down the enemy. Will there be victory or not? Let's find out.

TWILIGHT BASILISK

image.png

I have said before that I like monsters with Reach. Well, the Twilight Basilisk is a dragon monster with the Reach ability right off the bat. This means that he belongs in the second position in the average battle. This dragon gets 1x armor to protect him in that position but that armor increases to 2x at level 6. Sounds poor but I think it is alright for a 4 mana monster.

At level 5, this monster can help keep it's teams tank alive by stunning the other team's tank repeatedly. The other tank would not be able to attack and so this dragon can sit pretty at the second position doing its job.

I think the 3x speed is average on this monster. At level 4, the speed becomes 4x and does not increase after that. The attack of 1x at level 1 is not so great but thankfully it becomes 2x just at level 2 eventually getting to 3x at max level.

Looking at this monster's health, I would say that it makes him a risky one to play in the second position. He gets just 3x health in the beginning and nothing to protect him from blast. The health becomes 4x at level 3 an 5x at level 7. Well, I guess that's ok for a 4 mana rare monster.

I will be using the Twilight Basilisk at level 4 in the gold league.

Strategy

The heavy hitters ruleset would have been a good time to use Twilight Basilisk's stun but unfortunately I do not have him at level 5. So, I will just focus on getting as much attack as I can out there. Given that their would be no armor, I have to find ways to protect my tank for a reasonable amount of time.

Below is the info of my lineupšŸ‘‡:

SUMMONERimage.png
NAMESTHISPA
SPLINTERDRAGON
EDITIONRIFTWATCHERS
RARITYEPIC
LEVEL3
MANA COST4
BUFFSPHASE

Sthispa is a summoner that I really want to own sooner or later. I like the phase buff because it can be a problem to magic teams. I hope that in this battle, phase would help my monsters dodge any magic attacks from the other side.

RARITYCOMMON
LEVEL1
MANA COST9
ATTACK4X MELEE ATTACK
SPEED2X
HEALTH10X
TOUGHNESS0
ABILITIESENRAGE

Drybone Barbarian is one of the new reward cards that I really like. I currently have this monster at just level 1 but he should do. That 10x health should let him take a lot of the hits for his team. His enrage ability will probably come to good use given that there would be no armor to stop him.

LEVEL4
MANA COST4
ATTACK2X MELEE ATTACK

Of course, in the second position would have to be Twilight Basilisk because of his reach ability. Let's see what this dragon-like snake can do.

EDITIONRIFTWATCHERS
RARITYCOMMON
LEVEL5
MANA COST8
ATTACK2X MAGIC ATTACK
SPEED3X
HEALTH8X
TOUGHNESS5X
ABILITIESDODGE

Time Meddler is a monster that I have started to like a lot. I put him in the third position because of his Dodge ability. He should be able to dodge snipe attacks from any ranged monsters with the ability. Also, if he gets to the first position, he should be able to dodge some attacks as well.

MONSTER 4image.png

MANA COST4
ATTACK2X RANGED ATTACK
SPEED3X

TOUGHNESS0
ABILITIESTANK HEAL

So there would be no armor but I need to support my tank somehow. This is where Venari Crystalsmith comes on with her tank heal ability. As she throws her axes at the enemy, she would heal the tank of her team.

Lastly I have Portal Spinner at the back. To be honest, I did not consider the fact that there would be no armor and I had put this monster at the back to defend against sneak. I hope this mistake will not cost me the match.

The Battle Highlights

My SplinterEnemy's Splinter
image.png + image.pngimage.png + image.png

Round 1:

  • My monsters take the battlefield with the Phase ability ready.
  • Quix The Devious starts by reducing my monsters speed and ranged attacks.
  • Time Mage makes the speed reduction worse with her slow ability.
  • Being the fastest monsters, Time Mage, Gargoya Devil and Pelacor Arbalest viciously attack my tank.
  • Enraged, Drybone Barbarian destroys the Chaos Knight with the help of Twilight Basilisk.
  • Sunkai Harvester is forced to the frontline where he weakly attacks the Barbarian.
  • Time Meddler and Venari Crystalsmith take out the Sunkai Harvester as Drybone Barbarian is healed.
  • Portal Spinner randomly throws a blade that hits the Gargoya Devil.
  • Now in front, the Stitch Leech tries to hit the Barbarian but misses.

Round 2:

  • Time Mage and Gargoya Devil take out my tank.
  • Twilight Basilisk is forced to the frontline where he is destroyed by Pelacor Arbalest.
  • Time Meddler and Portal Spinner take out the Stitch Leech**.
  • Venari Crystalsmith ends the round by throwing a single blade at the Time mage.

Round 3:

  • The Time Mage and Gargoya Devil launch attacks at the Time Meddler.
  • Pelacor Arbalest tries to perform a follow up attack but the Time Meddler manages to dodge his attack, twice.
  • Time Meddler destroys the Time Mage and restores some speed to his team.
  • Venari Crystalsmith and Portal Spinner take out the Pelacor Arbalest as Time Meddler is healed.

Round 4:

  • Gargoya Devil throws a close blade at Time Meddler but the Meddler throws his magic at the devil and finishes him off.
  • Venari Crystalsmith rewards the Time Meddler by restoring some of his health.
    DEFEATED!

Victory!

Two dragon teams but only one summoner was able to truly harness and control the power of the dragons. Quix should take some lessons from the Epic Sthispa.

Did My Strategy Work?

Divider.png

Well, I won the battle but my strategy did not totally work. Sthispa's phase buff was not useful in the battle as there was only one magic monster on the other side and her attacks hit every time.

The tank that I placed was actually good. That 10x health with enrage was a good combo. He was able to hit hard and also stay alive for quite a while. Venari Crystalsmith's tank heal was part of the reason this tank was alive for a while.

Time Meddler is the monster that I really liked in this battle. His Dodge ability worked really well when he got to the first position. I would say that this monster, alongside Venari Crystalsmith, is the reason I won in the end.

Do I like Dragons?

Divider.png

Yes I like Dragons but I rarely use them. I actually like the dragon summoners the most and am planning to obtain as many of them as possible. I currently have my eyes on Lily Shieldpaw and Sthispa.

Speaking of Twilight Basilisk, I don't really like this monster. I like reach monsters but this one is not really one of my favorites. I use the monster once in a while though.
