My First Rising Star Gameplay Blog!

The "freebie newbie" Rising Star grind, is in fact, a real thing, at least it is for me anyways! :D

I guess I should start out this post by saying I'm not opposed to investing my own money into Hive, or Rising Star by any means, but the way my personal life is going, I haven't had the funds available to do so yet! So, with that being said, as of now, I'm jumping into Hive headfirst, trying to be an active and engaging member on the platform while still lacking a ton of RC or HP to do much! (One of my supporters delegated me 15 HP when I was getting started to help me, so mucho appreciation for that! If not for you @daltono, much of my content wouldn't be possible!)

With that being said, I love playing video games (whether on mobile or console), and I decided I needed to get into this play2earn gaming that is available to Hive!

Well, I quickly realized you need to buy starter packs in order to play most games on the Hive blockchain. No big deal. However, this is the first time I've dealt with any decentralized social media platform, let alone any sort of cryptocurrency and crypto wallet!

So no funds in my wallet (I started 2 days after I created my account, and before my first author rewards payout or the HP delegation), I just kept looking around, and I found RisingStar, the only game in beta on my mobile device, and the only play2earn game I found that you could start for free (besides the basics of Splinterlands, which I haven't gotten too far into yet lol.)

Now, I'm assuming the reason Rising Star is completely free to play as long as you have a Hive or Splinterlands account is due to the fact the game is in beta, but I honestly can't say for sure. Just happy I can partake in the fun! :)

Anyways, I started a little over two weeks ago: at the time of publishing, I am now up to level 16 and I have a little less than 1400 to go before I hit that glorious 10,000 mark, which will allow me to finally purchase my first pack! Ahhh!! I'm so excited, not only to buy my first pack, but that I was able to do this all completely free at that!

It's been a long hard journey into my Rising Star-dom, and while it is taking time, the feeling you get when you earn more starbits is phenomenal! Needless to say, I was quickly hooked, and I continuously checked up on my mission status far more than I should! (Ope! Another Illegal Busking mission in the books, and actually going over to go for my first Guitar Lesson!)

So, as I said earlier, I only started about two weeks ago, but here are my career highlights so far on Rising Star!

Total Starbits Earned: 8662
Total Missions Completed: 244
Illegal Busking: 90
Open Mic Night: 94
Mid-Week Support: 48
Licensed Busking: 5
Basic Singing Lessons: 7

Being a "freebie newbie", I don't own any cards yet, so I'm stuck with the base card#1 The Busker as of right now, which has a stat total of +10 Fans, +1 Skill, and +1 Income Modifier.

I must have gotten extremely lucky somehow, because I know the mission completion rewards are random, but was able to get a lot of drunk fans pretty early on, which allowed me to complete so many Open Mic Night and Mid-Week Support Missions!

Once I reached level 15, the Ego meter kicked in, and that's when my grind started slowing down, learning to balance the Singing Lessons and the Ego earned from completing missions. As of right now I have a total of 93 Ego from missions, add my original 10 Fans to that and I'm at a grand total of 103 Ego.

I can keep my meter pretty low for the most part (under 55%), but without any extra fans, I'm stuck gaining an exponential amount of ego just to keep completing Illegal Busking missions haha. Also, I'm not completely positive if your skill points are permanent, but as of right now, I do have a total of 50 Skill! Woot woot!
