Why can't I post on Splintertalk. An answer for my guildmate Winston3992
When I was in the guild chat today one of the junior members was confused when he tried to post on Splintertalk but wasn't able to. I'm pretty sure he didn't know about resource credits so I checked hiveblocks.com and got this :
When I saw that I immediately knew that he had ZERO comments (posts) left and I also knew the solution:
After delegating him 5 HP he now has enough for four posts on Splintertalk.
For any of you who don't know what any of this means here is a quick summary of Resource Credits, why they are important and why they can cause you grief.
Splintertalk (and HIVE that its based on) let you post your thoughts, comments, and likes. However, without regulation it would be subject to spam, trolls, and flame wars. When it was setup the people who made it put a system in place to prevent this.
Resource Credits
People with an account but no money in the system get very few resource credits. Enough for a post or two and then they would have to wait days before they would be able to post again.
If those posters were well liked by other members (who had money in the system) they would be rewarded with coin which they could stake and get most resource credits so they could post more. If the posters were spammers they wouldn't be upvoted and would never get a voice.
Great idea, right??
Now Winston is a great guy and excited about helping his guildmates and upvoting their content. He's also busy playing Splinterlands and winning battles. All great.
Except every battle, every upvote, every comment, every action and every post is draining his Resource Credits. He's also new so hasn't had a chance to make SPT or HIVE to boost his resource credits. As a result no power to post.
However, resource credits can be delegated. In simple terms I have far most posting power than I need (25 posts) so I can either let it sit or I can delegate (give) it to Winston so his voice can be heard. Once he's established, or if he posts things I don't like I can always undelegate my resource from him. However, for now I'm lending my voice to him so he can post
That's the quick explanation.
If your new and wondering why a transaction is failing or post isn't going through.....check those resource credits. They are the culprit more often than not.
