Buy the Dip, Wait for the Bottom, or Bail? What to do with the SPS and DEC decline.
I purchased my first batch of SPS when it was about 70 cents and now its down to 22 cents.
Which raises the question.... What do I do?
My first response is to :
1) Bail out and sell it all
Take my loss and run for the hills. However, a friend of mine once said its not a real loss until you sell it and lock that loss in. While it may be my gut response I'm pretty sure this game has legs and promise for the future so I'm not likely to sell. Which leads to the next option which is to :
2) Hold on for now and buy when it drops further
If I take this approach I'm pretty much I'm telling myself the bottom hasn't yet come. Unfortunately I think the SPS drop is only getting worse. The voucher drop ends in only a couple of weeks. The SPS staking rewards only go on for a limit period of time. The game hype from the Chaos release is fading. So the short term outlook is gloomy in my eyes.
However, the design team has big plans. Land is coming. The world is growing and the tournaments are getting geared up. This game still lets gaming take a real world value so I think SPS will grow in the long term, especially when the daily drop slows. Maybe that means that :
3) I should buy the dip
Not one big purchase but perhaps a daiy purchase so I can dollar cost average. I wish I had a crystal ball so I could figure out where things are going. Volume is low right now ($2M daily) and levels are right badk to where they were when it was first introduced.
So frustrating now knowing what to do. Whatever happens though I want to see this through to the end and find out where that goes. It's a great learning experience if nothing else.
Thanks for reading
and
Happy hunting!
It does kind of suck that the market is crashing (though it seems to be leveling off a bit lately.) However, I think it is mostly just due to the general cryptocurrency market decline. The charts for both SPS and DEC look extremely similar to the big coins like BTC and ETH.
So I am fully expecting another run up sometime soon. If I had any extra money not already tied up in Splinterlands, I'd be stacking DEC right now. Of course anything can still happen but DEC has so much utility in the game, as soon as the run up starts I think it'll be fastest back to where it was.
I've always thought SPS is kind of a rough choice. It has never really had the daily return that DEC has and it has way less current utility. The staking rewards are cool and lately the vouchers are nice. But other than that SPS is really all about the long play. It has high potential but it is still a bit off.
You can't win them all, I think holding and buying more later is your best option.
Value will flow to SPS eventually.
Hey man. Minor correction for you there. Voucher drops do not end in a few weeks. They stop the double pre-sale ratio drop of 66,666 Vouchers daily and then switch to 20,000 daily voucher drops indefinately.
As you say, there are plans in the future expansions for both SPS and Vouchers.
I vote you Hold!
Your absolutely right. I did know that it goes from lots of vouchers to few vouchers after the second round of pre-sale. I was more thinking after the second presale vouchers will be printed but there won't be an actual use for them until sometime down the road probably decreasing demand.
So a decrease of printing, with very little utility - just that you need them for free packs. But then you either hold or sell them as you please. I have a feeling there will be a new use for them described about a week in advance to a new feature the dev team has been play testing as they go.
Time will tell though.
