#106 Splinterlands Art Contest - the aged & wiser Dark Arborist as a granny (ENG/ DE)

I hope you all are doing well? Today I would like to join this week's Splinterlands Art Contest with my version of “Dark Arborist” as an aged, wiser grandma...

I've presented younger versions of Splinterlands characters in the past, but today it's the opposite! Why should only youth be beautiful? I think aging has an unimaginable beauty too! And unlike the book “Brave New World”, I don't want to push the old generations away, relegate them and repress them - no, I want to honor time, thus aging, and hope that we all experience a process of wisdom on the way there. Okay, I'm drifting off... Back to the drawing, I made it 90 percent out of lines. Once I used the hair brush and light brush, otherwise the main part was drawn with the soft pen. It would also be nice as lineart, but I wanted to bring in some bright colors since it's still a mushroom head. Nothing psychedelic, but I wanted it to be a bit colorful.

I'm also not depicting a scene this time. I'm trying to combine various drawing techniques and styles to create a work of art aka fanart.

Ich hoffe euch geht es gut? Heute möchte ich den dieswöchigen Splinterlands Art Contest mit meiner Variante von "Dark Arborist" als gealterte, weisere Oma joinen..

Ich hatte ja aich schon jüngere Varianten von Splinterlands Charakteren in der Vergangenheit präsentiert, heute mal das Gegenteil! Warum soll nur Jugend schön sein? Ich finde das Altern hat auch eine unvorstellbare Schönheit! Und anders als beim Buch "Schöne neue Welt" möchte ich die Alten Generationen nicht wegschieben, abschieben und verdrängen - nein, ich möchte die Zeit ehren, somit das Altern und hoffe das wir alle einen Prozess der Weisheit erleben aif dem Weg dahin. Okay, ich drifte ab... Zurück zur Zeichnung, ich habe sie zu 90 Prozent aus Linien gemacht. Einmal nutze ich den Haarpinsel und Lichtpinsel, ansonsten wurde der Hauptteil mit dem weichen Federhalter gezeichhnet. Es wäre auch als Lineart nice, aber ich wollte - da es immernoch ein Pilzkopf ist - bunte Farben reinbringen. Keine psychedelischen, aber etwas Farbenfroh sollte es werden.

Auch stelle ich diesmal keine Szene dar. Sondern versuche diverse Zeichentechniken und Stile zu einem Kunstwerk aka Fanart zu kreieren.

I experimented with different colors, background styles and color-combinations.

That's why I used maaaany layers at the end. Some I even didn't needed.

But at that point I have chosen out my style of the fanart.

As you see, a lot of layers. Mixed them sometimes and used effects on them.

Now working out the rest via lines and strokes. My style of today.

Simple lines take even more time as a clear colored sketch, I recognized at that point and after many hours of drawing.

Close ups again. Ok, here I tried to get even an effect on the green skin. Worked out but I needed 3 layers of it to mix them even together. Wasn't worse it. Could made it more easy by just using the right color. Know I know... 1 hour wasted for it. 😅

And some lightfully variations. At the end it worked out nice, I think. But I can do it more easy next time. To many experimentals and wasted time because of that. Anyway, I like my Dark Arborist Gran, do you?

To translate some of my german native words I used deepl.com. After I edited and corrected some parts because deepl.com couldn't translate all slang words perfectly. Just wanted to make this clear too.
