Today I decided to start a new column here on my blog. Sometimes I come across weird news, unique games, or just fun facts from the world of gaming (and beyond) that I think are worth sharing. Nothing too heavy or expert-level articles, just things that catch my attention and that I think you might enjoy too. Let’s think of it as a chill column among nerdy enthusiasts 😁
Drag x Drive – The wheelchair basketball you don't expect (and yes, it rocks)
Among the curious things I've read lately, this one really made me smile: Nintendo has announced a completely out-of-the-box sports game called Drag x Drive, and it’s centered around... wheelchair basketball. No, wait, read that again: wheelchair basketball, but futuristic, with neon arenas, robots, and slam dunks straight out of NBA Jam.
Crazy idea? Maybe. But it works.
Honestly, when I first read the news, I thought it was one of those quirky indie titles... but nope, it’s a real thing, well made, and most importantly, fun. Instead of making the usual sports game with the usual super-athletes, here you control robots on wheels and play 3v3 matches in courts that look like a 90s music video.
The controls? Never seen anything like it
The cool part is the controls use the new Switch 2 Joy-Cons in a crazy (but good) way: you push the controllers as if they were the actual wheels of a wheelchair. One only? You turn. Both? You go straight. To shoot, you flick your wrist quickly. And if you hit a ramp... you can even dunk with a trick like a flip slam dunk. It seems complicated at first, but you get the hang of it quickly (more or less 😅).
Lights, chaos, and total brawls (sports-style, of course)
Matches take place in dark arenas full of neon lights, with loud music and people pushing, blocking, and throwing balls at each other. It’s chaos — the good kind — the kind that makes you smile while you’re playing.
A great message without preaching
One thing I really liked is how the game brings the theme of disability into gaming without making a big deal out of it. It doesn't try to make you emotional, doesn't explain anything... but while you play, you realize it’s nice to see something different, well-represented. And you have fun, which is what really matters.
In short? Worth a try
Drag x Drive is one of those games that might not become as famous as Zelda, but that sticks in your mind. It has a fresh idea, runs smoothly, and is a fantastic mix of cool gameplay and awesome atmosphere.

Oggi ho deciso di iniziare una nuova rubrica qui sul mio blog. Ogni tanto mi capita di incappare in notizie strane, giochi particolari o semplici curiosità dal mondo del gaming (e non solo) che secondo me meritano di essere condivise. Niente robe pesanti o articoli da esperti eh, solo cose che mi colpiscono e che penso possano piacere anche a voi. Vediamola un po' come una rubrica rilassata tra appassionati di cose nerd 😁
Drag x Drive – Il basket in carrozzina che non ti aspetti (e sì, spacca)
Tra le cose curiose che ho letto in questi giorni, questa mi ha fatto proprio sorridere: Nintendo ha annunciato un gioco sportivo completamente fuori dagli schemi, si chiama Drag x Drive ed è incentrato... sul basket in carrozzina. No, aspetta, leggi bene: basket in carrozzina, ma futuristico, con arene al neon, robot e schiacciate che manco in NBA.
Idea assurda? Forse. Ma funziona.
Sinceramente, quando ho letto la notizia ho pensato fosse uno di quei titoli indie strambi... e invece no, è una roba vera, fatta bene, e soprattutto divertente. Invece di fare il solito gioco sportivo con i soliti superatleti, qui controlli dei robot su ruote e giochi 3 contro 3 in campi che sembrano usciti da un videoclip anni '90.
I comandi? Roba mai vista
Il bello è che i controlli sfruttano i nuovi Joy-Con della Switch 2 in modo assurdo (in senso buono): spingi i controller come se fossero le ruote vere di una sedia a rotelle. Uno solo? Giri. Tutti e due? Vai dritto. Per tirare devi fare un movimento veloce col polso. E se prendi una rampa... puoi pure schiacciare con un trick tipo “flip slam dunk”. Sembra complicato all’inizio ma ci prendi la mano in fretta (più o meno 😅).
Luci, caos e botte da orbi (sportive eh)
Le partite sono ambientate in arene scure piene di luci al neon, con musica a palla e gente che si spinge, si blocca, si lancia addosso palloni. È un casino, ma uno di quelli belli, che ti fanno sorridere mentre giochi.
Un bel messaggio senza troppi discorsi
Una cosa che mi è piaciuta un sacco è che il gioco riesce a portare il tema della disabilità dentro al gaming senza fare la lezione. Non ti commuove, non ti spiega niente... ma mentre giochi capisci che è bello vedere anche qualcosa di diverso, di rappresentato bene. E ti diverti pure, che alla fine è quello che conta.
In breve? Da provare
Drag x Drive secondo me è uno di quei giochi che magari non diventano famosi come Zelda, ma che ti restano in testa. Ha un’idea nuova, gira bene, ed è un gran bel mix tra gameplay fresco e atmosfera fighissima.
