Magic Card Analysis - Core Set (December 2021/Early January 2022)

Soo guys, I have been hovering our beautiful community posts, and noticed that we do not have already an Statistic, yet experienced, analysis on the Magic God Archetype! Shouts to @jungleboy1, his series inspired me to create one of my own!

And I think I can add a little bit knowledge on that, for our beloved community. I'll try my best at keeping up with the great work, hope you like it! "Playstyle" also I'll be discussing about where do I think this card is great, or wich archetype should fit. From my day 1 to now. 😁

The Deal

Ok, I'll be analyzing now the core set.. only meteor quality., later, I'll come up to all of them! (big ones at least: welcome/trial of the gods, order and genesis. these last two being a little more extense).

And It will be ordered from top matches appearances/% in deck, to bottom...
Let's Get Down to it!!!

Starshard Bolt

I have been using it lately In my decks, very strong. Only 2 mana point, 4 damage to an enemy creature.. It has been VERY HIGH on statistics, and I think it will sometime be nerfed.

Can outplay some foes for sure. Carefull though, only monsters!! 52,9% WR and 0,75USD.

Tracking Bolt

Versatile spell, especially against those "Zoo" or "Aggro" Archetypes.. Keep them away from you!! Either it Be some small threats or a bigger one.. I

t has a special good functionallity against fonrtline/backline creatures too, since it does not let them pass by unnoticed!! Bring them the pain. And it is available for $0,75 USD.. 52.90% WR on this card.

Wyrmbreath

Ok bros, this one here is a special one. Don't be tricked by its 4 mana cost! As it is 5 damage in WHATEVER you would like.. Defend your board, or surprise for an Victory outplay, It's up to you!

This comboed with other cards like "Epiphany" (6 mana) can really end your opponents game.. 52.70% WR and the cost of $1,12 USD.

Street Conjuror

It Has been used a lot, can really snowball things at your way if your opponent decides not to deal with it. Great health points too for its cost, wich makes possible for him to be alive for a little longer.

You can use it early on to start snowballing straight away, or just keep it to use with all your deamage magic spells! Versatile too, and low cost. 53.90% WR and $3,37 USD.

Ratify

Hahahaha, bro it gives me shivers... I got "Ratified" on my Big "Ladon, Uclid Dragon" once!!! 😡 Lucky me, this time I got backed up by a Burnished Bull that time..

Disgusting card man, It tilts your opponent so hard if he only has that creature there! Also you can tweak him out if he has a frontline creature (or even backline) since you'll transform it and it'll lose it's ability! It has a 52.50% WR and costs $0,75 USD.

Cristal Rain

Very good board-wiping tool! 2 damage x 6 = 12 damage on your opponents board for a cost 5 card. That total output damage can sure be good to hold things up while trying to prosper.

Also allows us to foresee a card, maybe to set up some play of yours! Some people using it nowadays.. The win rate is 52.30% on deck and costs $0,75 USD.

Inferno

Yeah man, Blaze'm all! Like an upgraded version of cristal rain.. But not foresee! 😂 7 mana costs means it'll get later in the game, so you should not be very trustful on this since your games can end really early, if not stabilized.

I am using it nowadays thoug, because if the enemy lacks he'll get what he needs. The deck win rate is 52.10% and the cost of $0,75 USD.

Assisant Alchemist

I wrote a post in wich I talk also about this card.. It is more expensive, so if you can't afford it there is no problem! A Vanguard Axewoman or a Hog can easily make up for her..

Once I did not have her at first, and was doing fine. Although she is quite a nice card, and having it can help you achieve your goals too!! The winrate here is the highest of core Magic cards! 54.20%! and not much expensive comparing to other rare cards! $9,75 USD.

Oni Spellsword

A good card and has a great utility tool for your opponents to spend resources. I don't use it though cause I don't have it, and as Assistant Alchemist it is of a higher price, so I think it is safe to say replacing it for a Hunt Warden should be just fine!

I prefer pure raw strength than cards with creature buffs since these depends on having other creatures and sometimes doesn't even stack their effect! Nevertheless, Munosian Infiltrator is a good substitute in that buffing utility.
53.50% is the Win Rate for him and costs $12,74 USD.

Manathirst Golem

He sure is in Thirst for mana! 😂 And if you are to hold up some spell of yours
untill the right time, he may overwhelm your opponent's for real. Also, in case he cannot get buffed, still aigh't hitpoints bro.

Kind of known card, though I haven't implemented it. Not very common card to be seen. The win rate of Manathirst is 50.80% and its price is $0,75 USD.

Astric Implosion

This card is very very strong guys! Literally adds Tracking Bolt 1st option (1 damage to each creature) plus an "Epyphany" single target damage (6). Brilliant, worth of its cost!

Oh what a beautiful card..😀. One should really give it a try, and won't regret. Maybe we should start seeing this card a little more in the next few days? We have 50.50% WR here , and $0,75 USD on its cost.

Sip of Elixir

"Let us take a sip, shall we??" Very good spell for getting into that head-to-head late game eh!? Well it should be used as an filler card! Since it won't benefit you a lot in the roubd you play..... but later on!

If you are able to play more than one in a match you might just be able to see your opponents losing it all. There's a thing though, shouldn't be played instead of a monster if possible, not to lose "Momentum/Tempo". The winrate in decks for this is 50.30% while its cost $1,50 USD.

Mana Toad

He may seem AFK, but he's a trap itself.. if the opp attacks you, you are benefited. WHile if you attack with mana toad, he still has some attack hitpoints to deal flexible damage.

Win-win situation right? Despite that, he is also not so popular between us Gods Unchainers. A 48.60% sad winrate and $0,75 USD as the cost.

Time Bomb

It can be comboed with O Fortuna (8 mana magic spell), well of power (5 mana cost magic spell) or even other cards...

In order to get the best out of its roar effect (1st effect), though if you wish not to combo, it is ok too! Very good attack hitpoint for price of mana. The winrate is 51.30% and $4,12 USD is the cost of this card.

Choralis Rune Moth

We can see why it is legendary! Basically a Rune Writer, wich procs its effect every turn, with 3/5 manacost and reduces the cost of the runes added to 0. This makes the deck grow in it's natural form, sure a good investiment if you can, if you can't, no problem....

if your deck is good, you will progress with no problems. I have not seen much so far, though its effect speaks for itself.. 51.90% WR and $23,61 USD for this great legendary card.

Spellsight Seer

OK so, Spellsight can be seen as a good well rounder for Magic at its cost range. 1 mana cost for a total of 4 hitpoints (2/2).

See the future, and see wich cards may suit on your play, if it doesn't, you can only look at your hand for now, and make the dude pay! We have 50.80% deck winrate with this card $0,37

Staff of Shards

This is a very good card guys.. As you can see, a win-win card straight away! As it has an "Ability" ,You deal a 2 damage output per durability stack, without taking damage back to your god!

This is unique mechanincs here guys no 🧢. Consistent wipe and face damage, I think this card is MAD underrated, but we can take advantage of that because we know that now right? 51.30% winrate tha should rise and
only $1,50 USD!

Morgana's Grimoire

Alright, it reduces by one mana cost all of your spells in your hand... wich corresponst no more than the total unlocked mana gems... In exception if it would nulify its cost. only around 5% acceptance in players deck though...

I think is a good card, a seelf snowballing card, if you like to really put up your deck into that spell-style feel me? 😀 The WR is 47.60% while the cost is $0,37 USD.

Soothsayer

I don't like a lot this hitpoints, but its effect can be useful as you can interfere in the outcome by drawing a card, and foreseeing to plan something really nasty braaa! 😎..

In the worst case scenario, he is a follower with not a high-cost mana hunger with a tweak effect right? Better than nothing to say the least! 49.50% is the statistic fo WR and the price of $1,12 USD.

Seeing Stone

Cool 1 cost spell, really simple. But can either give you and advantage early game or even if the game goes on, cause as we say here in Brazil "On a blind man land, the one with an eye is a king..." 😉.

From there on my friend, is up to you wich will be of them endless comboes of yours man!! The winrate is 48.70% and the price is cheam as $0,37 USD.

Tome Golem

High mana cost creature, so we cannot be hoping for this to decide our game, but if we're able to get that in the field it will sure pay its cost! Very good hitpoints for mana cost, plus a good effect, late game may be better than nothing..

But man damn! I think is such a creature... for it it a common card with so many benefits!! Very OP for its catergory. We have a 49.80% WR here with the price being $0,37 USD.

Rune Viper Tincture

The problem with this type of card is that, if you do not have already estabilished your board pressure or dominance, then you're in trouble because you're about to face another turn of doing-nothing..

I don't like it a lot, but it may fit a fill boarded playstyle. If you have a version of a magic that has lots of monsters, it may be safe to use. Rune viper has a 48.40% WR and a price of $1,12 USD.

Frey, Archmage of Selene

Works similar as Tome Golem in a way that you can not be expecting it in order not to regret, but has a good effect. By the way, Tome Golem might just be the substitute for Frey, as it is legendary, yeah he might just fit.

I don't have Frey so, that's what I'd do. I highly advice not to invest on this one, as it is a legendary card and may not even appear in the game! Or if it does, maybe you would not be able to drop it.. 50.80% is the man's Winrate while $11,24 USD be its price.

Metamorphosis

Maaan I'm willing to buy this one! I like a lot its unique effect, it can troll me because as it is a random creature spawned but I think I'm willing to throw myself into that probability just for the sake of the unkown!!

Haha who knows I transform my common creature in a legendary? 😂🤣... thoug if I can't I'll have my creature pimpin' that's fo sho'! 😎 47.80% is the winrate, while worthing $3,37 USD

Leyhoard Hatchling

So if you're able to hold that much cards, you can be rewarded with a free tardget 4 damage to supress your foees!! I haven't seen it already in game, and I would not use it since it counts a lot with probability 😉...

And as I said earlier i do not count much on that luck, I prefer consistance or already known facts. Leyhoard stands a 48.90% WR with the cost of $1,50 USD.

Prescient Spellbinder

I really like this one man, versatile if you're looking for making your plays, or either tilt/spy your opponents deck from preventing them for doing so! Underrated card, 3 mana cost 3/3.. veeeery good man!!

"The possibilites are endless" Elyrian yould say... the master's words are not to be dismissed, get that from that boa! And the winrate is 48.80% together of its price $0,37 USD.

Conclusion

That's it guys, that's what I had for today... I am happy for being able to gather these few things and wrap it it up so you can receive it well, and maybe know how to use it with my past experience or one insight of mine who knows 😅.

As I said, later I'll be coming up with the continuation, I really liked doing this post as I myself reminded of some good cards and plays.. Sometimes playing only two archetypes can give me this problem, but now I'm aware of that. hehe
