I started a little experiment about a month ago. But its over 🙁
When Chaos packs dropped to $0.70 I started buying and opening them up. Card pack values were estimated at $0.93 (now up to $1.01). Seems like easy money 🤔
I bought and opened 55 Chaos packs over about 2 weeks.
The best pack I opened had two golds - total value $2.58
Overall I spent $40.91 and got back $23.86 in cards 🤦 I used full potions on all openings. Legendary dropped at 1.45%, Gold dropped at 4.36%
You can argue that if I keep opening I could hit a great card that will change everything. But I got 4 lengendary cards... 3 desert dragons (worth maybe $1.56 each) and 1 zyvax vuul (approx $1.29). With those cheap legendary cards out there its a crapshoot at best. No Mas.

Well, you now own some NFTs that can be transferred to the other blockchains Splinterlands is connected to. While the cards might not be the 'profit' that was expected, the 'value' the NFT has as a token still offers an opportunity to expand into other places.
Things aren't always what we expect but if there is still a use case then maybe checking out those options would be better than putting the items back in the market. Thanks for sharing!
I play splinterlands pretty actively and have put in fiat buying a lot of cards over the last year to upgrade my deck. Buying card packs is always a gamble. I've had much better results buying specific cards on the after market. My experiment was to check if the low price of Chaos packs was a good deal. The card pack estimator tools available online said a profit could be had. My conclusion is that its still a gamble. You have to hit some rare (very rare) cards to make any profit.
I'm like you when I open packs, never too lucky... I prefer to buy the cards I need on the market. But it's true that you always hope that the chest will start to shake, especially if the card turns golden 😀
