I like walking. My commute to work is a few thousand steps each day I go in as I have to walk to the station. I rarely get over 10k unless I am running that day, but I don't worry too much about the steps. In a previous job we had a health insurance that gave us pedometers. You could earn points if you got over 10k steps and convert that to money. One guy would sit tapping the thing on his leg all day.

I think walking is better than no exercise, especially if you can make it brisk at times. Obviously we do a lot more than that, but some people would hardly get any steps over a week if they are just sitting or driving.
