Unplugging And Trying To Reclaim Lost Time.

I am a man who spends many hours on his phone, and I have come to realize that this habit puts a significant strain on my personal relationships. Last week, I spent a total of 55 hours and 54 minutes on my phone screen, mainly on YouTube, Netflix, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime. Additionally, a considerable amount of time was dedicated to crypto-related apps like Ecency, Binance, MEXC, and TradingView.

Considering a week has 168 hours, I found that I spent almost half of my week looking at my phone screen, without even accounting for the time spent on my PC. Statistics indicate that an average person spends 3.15 hours daily on their phone, but I doubled that amount based on last week's data. What concerns me the most is that a significant portion of this time is unproductive and poorly spent.

From this day forward, my goal is to manage my time better and reduce the excessive screen time on my phone.

So, what I want to do is organize the time I spend on the screen, and in order to achieve that, I will:

  • Set a daily limit on how much time I spend on my phone, The challenging part is that I don't know how much time is actually needed. Therefore, I will attempt a 30% reduction, aiming for a daily average of 5.3 hours. I will reassess this limit in 10 days to see if I can further reduce this time.

  • Create a tech-free area in my home , I will designate a space, likely my bedroom, where no devices will be allowed.

  • Avoid using my phone when I'm with friends and family ,This step aims to foster the growth of these relationships by being fully present during our time together.

Schedule my day in 10 days' time, I will start allocating specific times for screen activities, such as dedicating 1 hour per day for charting or watching YouTube videos.

Building on something I began in the summer, I will continue seeking out locations without internet access, as being disconnected in such places has proven beneficial.

Evaluate and adjust, After 10 days, I will reevaluate and make adjustments to the allocated screen time or any other measures that can help limit unproductive screen time. The ultimate goal is to enhance and flourish my real-life relationships.

You're not alone in this one... Especially during winter, I spend a lot of time on my phone and I might address this issue myself as well. I guess I will have to start reading again.

Yeah I am sure lots of people have the same problem especially in crypto 😂😂but I never gave much attention to how long I spend on my phone screen and never expected to be 1/3 of my time but I will try and I limit that time and hopefully it will turn out as a good thing !

Myself I must confess I spend more time on my phone than I spend on my PC. I am presently trying to minimize that addiction.

I spend far to much time on my phone, but I do so with no regrets! I found Hive after my partner died of cancer and it's all of you that help me fill the empty hours!
