Gala Games: Don't Snooze On This Play-To-Earn Blockchain Company

I'll be direct. I highly suggest learning about Gala Games. If you don't want to play the games for income, you can get their in-game NFTs and make money renting or flipping them as the games grow. You can also simply buy and hold their Gala ERC-20 token. Their leadership and development experience are legit. There are some normal growing pains, but that's to be expected. The upside is tremendous, and therefore my attention is fixed on this company while.

Town Star is their main active game right now, but many are being developed per below. Gala Games are also building their own side chain for the long run, so they likely won't be on Ethereum's L1 forever.

Now I'm no guru, but this lineup looks promising to me. The game genres are diverse and fully immersive.

I'm most keen on Mirandus. I'm actively researching which Exemplar NFTs I'm going to be getting for that game. Exemplars are limited characters that have special skills and efficiencies to maneuver the game. They have a few different classes, i.e., humans, orcs, dwarves, halflings, and elves. These can be bought on Gala's store or on OpenSea. Beta testing is currently available for those holding Exemplars at the time of a recent snapshot to also allow them to earn the first in-game currency (Materium) ahead of the pack for their effort.

Each of these games are different from each other, but I like the approach that this development company and community is taking.

Big Picture:

While many games are still in the works, I'd recommend getting involved by studying the company and their leadership. Join their discord and poke around in the different channels assigned to the games.

You can also start playing Town Star, but you can't earn unless you own at least 1 Gala Power (an ERC-20 token) in your Gala/Ethereum wallet, and own an NFT that you can place in-game (see info at the end of this post).

I've been playing and earning some Town Coin for just over 3 weeks now. It's been fun to learn the game from stratch and begin to have it click. I earn Town Coin by completing a daily quest with my NFT placed in the game, a faster delivery truck for trading than the stock truck. This NFT truck cost me about $58 after ETH gas fees when I purchased it in the Gala Store and it's a bonus for joining Gala's Gold Membership. This membership gives you access to an exclusive Discord channel where the developers give you advanced notice of what's coming.

While my cost was about $58 after gas (and may still be around there now), this truck NFT can be resold with ease on OpenSea to easily recover your money if you want down the road. Cough.

While Town Star is just the first game released by Gala Games, it's a good place to start, but it's not necessary at all. If you want to take the first step, I'd suggest getting the Gold Membership + NFT and generally starting to track the Discord and Gala Store. They have many NFTs for sale for each game, and there's a secondary market on OpenSea. The more I learn about some of the games on the way, the more I'm interested in finding cost-effective ways to acquire NFTs to be "early," yet not go too heavy.

In the case of Mirandus, I'm aiming to buy 2 or 3 Exemplars, a human, an orc and a dwarf. The floor for these is about $450 for the human, and higher as you go to orc and dwarf, but not that much more. With these Exemplars, I'll also be able to partake in future testing to early early Materium tokens, and know that I have a good starting point in the game. While there are plenty of other NFTs to buy such as buildings, boats, and various elements of game, I think these are good starting points.

On the Town Star front, this is my town after about 3 weeks. I decided to take it very easy with a grain/wood/lumber route, with my main export as flour. This gets the job done to get my daily quest fulfilled in about 30 minutes. If I decided to go higher in the tech tree, which I'll do in the next season, that time is greatly reduced as the higher level goods you can produce fetch much more of a return on the trade market, which is how you ultimately complete the daily quest.

image.png

One important note I learned was that there's a Gala Power scale you need to reach to allow you to place more NFTs in the game. For example, 1-4,999 GALA allows you to place 1 NFT in Town Star. For a few more levels (where each level allows you to place an additional 1 NFT), you need to hold 5,000 more GALA power. At about $0.45 per Gala today, that's not too cheap, but it's also not that expensive if you see the entire economy and blockchain company as a good long-term hold anyway. Furthermore, you can earn a special NFT fountain for Town Start when you get a certain number of legit referrals, of which the smallest fountain you place in game for passive water to crops yields 8 Town tokens per day. Aside from that payout, they're available on OpenSea for $1,000+, so getting that base fountain and the higher level fountains are nice ways to be rewarded without the financial risk.

Oh yea, this is my town plot near Atlanta...

Oh, and this is the ONE global server I'm on now. There are several completely filled by people playing to earn like me.

But, we're still early!

Now I know that most people don't have the time and energy for play-to-earn gaming, especially when NFTs are needed for making money. Some of these NFTs are getting pricey, but as the newer games roll out, I suggest being primed and ready to jump on those NFT drops.

While I'm not trying to sell anybody on anything I think is a waste of time, I genuinely think that getting the foot in the door with Gala Games is a quality move on the crypto chess board for the next couple of years. It also gets you invested a little where you'll be more introduced, connected, and tuned in for future developments and opportunities.

If you're interested at all, ask any questions below or message me on Discord. While I can't discuss the stuff I see in the Gold Membership channel, I'm excited and already pointing my masts at Gala Games for my NFT investments for a while, while also looking to get another Splinterlands land plot. I want to diversify and like this niche.

To be clear, here's a link to sign up at Gala Games, and my referral code below. Two people signed up from my first post, so I've set a goal to get that first fountain the old grassroots way.

Don't just believe me though. Do your own digging on Discord and all over YouTube where early adopters are starting to create more steady content on the Gala Suite.

Thanks for your interest, time, and I'll be ready to answer any questions below.

Gala has been booming the past weeks. Lot's of new millionaires have been minted there. I have never played any of their games but I have been waiting for Fortified for several months now. Tower defense with NFTs sounds really cool.

Hey man. Prices have come down into a decent enough buy zone, so I'll be scooping as much as I can in the near term. My main exchange just announced support for it today of all days, and will be listing a USD pair soon. This is exactly what I needed as it was a headache to get it through other channels. While I'm not sure that I want to trade my GALA for NTFs, I'd be ok using some ETH for it in the name of fun. The onramps are limited at the moment, but I'm willing to part with some blue chips for some basic NFTs to ensure that I'm part of the new wave of adoption from more than a token holder standpoint. If you haven't made an account yet, please keep my link in mind down the line.

CT keeps talking about Gala and I never had a chance to check it out. Seems interesting from here but can it really qualify as a p2e if you need to invest before you can start playing?

You can play to earn in the competitive seasons I didn’t mention, where top builders get prize money. However, it’s very difficult to place without lots of experience as there are masterminds who have perfected their strategy and dominate. It’d take a lot of time and hustle without NFTs as well, which provide in-game advantages. I hear you, but sometimes there is a benefit to getting some skin in the game while it’s still doable. Thanks for your comment.

Seems to me most blockchain games are like this right now. People don't want to give up free money...

I'll definitely give it a look nevertheless.

Cool. Hope you learn something in the process! I just got an email today that Gala is being added to Gemini, which is going to be quite helpful. Grabbing the Gala token could be a nice way to get general exposure without the time commitment in my book. I’m not shelling out a ton for several NFTs for Town Star, but getting that one small one was a good idea for me, and a soft enough entry level to get introduced with an out that you can sell it for a profit as an out. The fountain would be a huge win since I prefer to hustle to earn my success in general. I’m really keen on Mirandus though where the NFTs are a bit cheaper by scale, simply as an investment for now. I don’t want to get lost in these virtual worlds much, just have fun and have a slice of the game in my back pocket. I say this now, but one of their upcoming games is similar to StarCraft, which was my favorite game ever - and I’d never see daylight if I could play to earn there.

Interesting. I generally hesitate to jump on anything that runs on ETH blockchain (atleast while its still eth 1.0), but the possible side chain makes it enticing.

I don't play any of these games, but like to invest. Splinterlands is all I am in but want to get exposure to others.

You're right. Gala on ETH felt like a concern to me and the gas fees to transact definitely is felt. For now, I call it the price to get in and that it'll come back around in the end. I believe that some of the Gala games aren't being release until their side chain is launched.

Some of the Gala Games, Illuvium, and Star Atlas are upcoming blockchain gaming/NFT plays I've been researching. There are many more, but I'm trying to pick a few to focus on. Splinterlands is interesting to me, but I don't seem to have that much fun with the style of game play. I'll still stay involved and grow my accounts slowly, but I'd hope that the dynamics will become more intricate over time.

Hey man, I am starting my journey with Town Star too, like yours I do have gala gold membership for investment. I write an article about it on my blog. And there is one good project built on Solana, which I invest in early on, Solice VR Open World Metaverse. If you have some time, go check it out on my Leofinance blog post. See you there :)
