The SPS-Validator v1.1.1 introduces several improvements to increase the functionality of the validator node software.

This is a block-hash-stable release, which means you do not have to update your node. It is recommended that you do so if you are on a "light node" so you can fix your database partitioning.

Overview:

  • Validator Node: Fixes database partitioning resulting in smaller database size for light nodes and improved query performance for archive nodes.

  • User Interface (UI): Interface enhancements including a UI to view upcoming validator updates/transitions, improved responsiveness, and auto refreshing block list.

  • Docker Image: We are now publishing a docker image for the validator to GHCR, https://github.com/TheSPSDAO/SPS-Validator/pkgs/container/sps-validator. This will allow us to support more installation configurations in the future (like native clustering).

Detailed Changes

You can find the full release notes on the github repository here.

You can find update instructions here.

  • Fixing Database Partitioning
    • There was a bug in the database partitioning setup in the previous version that was causing database partitions to not be setup correctly. This release fixes it for new validator nodes, but for existing nodes you will need to run the command pictured below to fix it. Light nodes and archive nodes should both do this. For light nodes it will reduce the size of the database, and for archive nodes it will improve query performance.

  • New Commands
    • ./run.sh update - will attempt to update your node to the latest version. If the update is a block hash breaking update or schema breaking update there may be extra steps you need to take. You can find instructions on how to update here.
    • ./run.sh psql - will open psql to your validator database so you can easily run SQL commands.
    • ./run.sh status - will show the status of your validator node.
  • UI Updates
    • Improved responsiveness of some tables in the UI.
    • Added a checkbox to automatically refresh the block list.
    • The UI homepage will now display upcoming validator transitions to notify you before required updates so that you have time to make any necessary changes before the transition.
  • Misc updates
    • Updates the supply endpoint to show unstaking totals.
    • Corrects the terablock (bridge) account names.
