LITTLE SISTER

A wonderful comeback @splinterlands community! How's your day? I'm pretty sure everyone is doing fine and enjoying an opportunity to witness how beautiful the world is especially when you realize your favorite game is getting better and better. It was year 2024 when I posted my last art but here I am playing the Splinterlands and doing art again. This content will reveal the digital process on how to draw a flying monster character (Little Sister). This card is one of the best cards from the campaign mode because of its ability and type. A magic card with 3 lives, 2 speed and 1 magic attack that captures the lives of your opponent directly w/o rules. I really like the character of this art so now let's begin!

The Card Used as Inspiration and it's Lore

  • Lore

The Ferexian Empire is an authoritarian war machine that controls much of the Great Lowlands. Ruled by the Ministry of Peace, it enforces rigid castes, suppresses free expression, and rewards absolute loyalty. Dissent is treason. From the fortress capital of Miterstedt to the farthest outposts, everything serves the state: labor, faith, even magic.

Little sisters are imps from the lower planes, trained by the Ministry to watch, listen, and disappear. They slip into homes, garrisons, and gatherings, cloaked in illusion and sanctioned authority. No secret is safe. No room unwatched. They report everything. And when a name reaches the Ministry, that name is erased. Quietly, efficiently, and without appeal. No one sees them coming. Most never realize they were there.

The Process

All Steps in 6 Phases

Step 1: Sketching

1000000982.jpg

Using black thin and thick lines, I just play those lines to create the base of the art and to make sure that I can still figure out the character that I'm supposed to create.

Step 2: Application of Dominant Colors

1000000984.jpg

This is going to be more creative in a way of selecting the best colors for those wide spaces and harmonizing hues. I just make sure that all selected colors are going to be connected and radiates well to other near colors. Also, by just looking up to the reference card I get some ideas like those colors are going to be inside that ranges. I don't want to copy the same but to experiment colors that I can combine and contrast.

Step 3: Giving depth to the Upper Body

1000000986.jpg

This time, I just focus on the upper part of the art, like the hair, accessories, horn, and the entire skin. This is may way to continually create the art in a logical manner. It should be done through steps and gradual process.

Step 4: Characterizing

1000000987.jpg

This time I just focus on the wings giving all my best to create a good one. Opacities are lowered for a good shades and shadows. Also selecting a good color was a challenge. Though it was a challenge, it is definitely a pleasure to arrive a beautiful art even trials have been made for few attempts to get the expected result.

Step 5: Finishing Up

1000000988.jpg

This time I already finished the character with enough design, colors, depth, but I'm finding a more marvelous effect. So I just colors like white, blue, grey, and a small pink to emphasize the concept that I really wanted to look forward.

Step 6: Finalization

This time to finalize the art I just put some effect, background effect. I prefer to have a nighty effect and cloudy effect using the opacity of eraser.

Art Application: ibisPaint X

The result is absolutely stunning! Thanks a lot! See you on my next fan art.
