Hello everyone! Welcome back to my Splinterlands fan art post. I’m excited to share with you my latest fan art. For this entry, I’ve chosen to draw a Normal Earth Unit from the Conclave Arcana card set—Buttercup Mauler. This unique character caught my eye not only because of her design but also due to her fascinating abilities: Sneak, Deflect, Reveal, and Camouflage at her max level.

This week’s fan art focuses on two of this abilities: Camouflage and Sneak. I wanted to visualize a moment where Buttercup Mauler is using her skills to stay hidden while positioning herself strategically for a surprise attack. I decided to illustrate her blending into her natural surroundings—hidden in a thick bush, eyes alert, ready to strike from the shadows.

Step-by-step creation process:

I started by sketching the basic pose and positioning of Buttercup Mauler, imagining her crouched low in a dense bush.

Next, I applied the base color in reference to the original design. I choose the original colors which are earthy tones and subtle highlights to emphasize her natural camouflage.

I then moved on to applying shadows using Multiply Layer.

I then added shades onto her skin and also added the reddish make-up

After that, I then proceeded on applying highlights to her forehead and hair.

Finally, I added details to the surrounding foliage to enhance the hiding effect and give the piece a lush, immersive forest vibe.
