This week's theme is "Tips for Beginners"!
What better way for a beginner to see the type of earnings and chest you can get with an low-value deck.
I track my results each season of #Splinterlands to see how my assets are growing (in terms of card power and value). In this post, I will discuss my EoS rewards and end with what I plan to do with the new SET of released cards.
Tips for Beginners
You can see some of my older posts to see the progress I made in the last year:
If you go back and read my older post, you can see that I start with around $100. I had purchased 8 CL packs from the store. Then I might have added up to another $100 to buy the needed cards.
Tips for Beginners: Focus
Initially, I was only focused on getting 1 card (BCX) of each. I needed more cards and not higher-level cards. Once I got the hang of the game, which took me about a year. Then I pivot on getting 1 BCX of Gold Foil. I planned to stay in Bronze using one BCX GF card.
- Sold extra cards and used money for gold foil.
- buy one BCX of Gold Foil common card. Focus on getting them all.
- buy common first, then move up to RARE cards. Get more expensive when you do that.
Tips for Beginners: Join Guild for Guild Brawls.
I did not join a guild until after my first year of playing. Now that I know the benefits, I recommend you join a tier 1 guild as soon as possible. The goal is to find a guild with mostly beginners so they will not kick you out.
Joining the guild allowed me to collect SPS faster than what I was finding from the reward chest and battles. Guild Brawls also helped with Soul Bound "G" cards. I was lucky to get a regular foil Quora within the first six months of joining a guild. Playing in the correct "FRAY" is critical. I found that staying in a tier 1 guild is very BEGINNER friendly. I don't think most people will do well in a tier 2 or tier 3 guide where you will face MORE people with lots of cards and higher-level cards. In the lower guild, more people have level 1 cards.
Tips for Beginners: Summoners are key
Splinterland is a trading card game (TCG). The more cards, the better. Summoners are critical to any deck. The more summoners, the more options you have in any given rules. The issue is most people will only have 2 or 3 summoners, as most people focus on 2 or 3 splinters to focus on. I purchased some cheap (less than 1 dollar) summoner cards.
You might decide if you want to include Dragon in your deck. For most beginners, having this does add more uses to your deck.
Tips for Beginners: Reward Card
As you play, you will see that the rewards chest can be precious to a beginner. I was playing in Bronze and Silver for over a year. It wasn't until I finished in GOLD (on the last day of the season), that my End-Of-Season Chest rewards were better. This is why I track my progress at the EoS with a new post showing what I got and what changed since the last season.
In the last few months, reward cards have new abilities like Martry and weapon training. But the most important cards for beginners are the new RARE summoners with the conscript ability. These are FREE, as long as you play enough to earn daily and season reward chests. Is it possible to get these cards to the bronze level.
Tips for Beginners: More Time, more assets
The most critical piece of this puzzle is to put in the time. It might look like a slow grind, but each card will add value. As you play, you will have more cards that give you more options based on the ruleset. Im only two years into this and starting my third year of playing, and I can see how my deck is getting stronger.
It would be best to determine what key cards will help you win more to speed up the progression. This is the beauty of this game, as there are many ways to implement what you believe is the right game plan for your deck.
Let move into my deck and my EoS rewards.
EoS 122 Earnings - 39 Gold Chest (1 EPIC / 0 Legendary).
Here is my data right before the end of the season:
- 39 Gold Chest
- 5-7 daily Silver Chest.
- Move up to GOLD at the end of the Season (for EoS Reward).
- Got 1 Epic, 0 Legendary, 4 GF Cards (4 Commpn).
Here are the EoS Rewards:
I got four GF common cards (for the EoS Rewards). It has been a while since I got a legendary.
My SPS at the End/Start of the Season.
Stake SPS tracker - Start of Season#122: 3891.
This will show how much I gain each season:
- Season 123: 3891 Stated SPS (66 USD Value) on Nov 15, 2023.
- Season 122: 3689 Stated SPS (51 USD Value) on Oct 30, 2023.
- Season 121: 3512 Stated SPS (49 USD Value) on Oct 15, 2023.
- Season 120: 3204 Stated SPS (47 USD Value) on Sept 30, 2023.
- Season 119: 3035 Stated SPS (50 USD Value) on Sept 15, 2023.
Stay in Silver until the last day of the season!
I play in silver leagues because I only have a bronze deck. I am still missing many of Chaos Legion's EPIC and LEGENDARIES cards. My goal is to buy those missing cards first. This will take another year as many cards cost between $1-$15 each (and I only add one or two cards per month).
For season #122, I did not purchase anything. I wanted to wait and see what I needed next. I'm missing so many 1bcx cards from "RW/CL," it might make more sense for me to get 1 of each card first. Playing in Silver League, I would rather have more cards to handle every ruleset before I level up key cards.
Rebellion is another reason why I need to stay in the lower leagues. Adding new cards takes lots of new capital to buy these new assets. This cycle repeats itself each year.
My Deck (Bronze): $405 and 61K CP in Tradeable Asset.
Here is my current deck and Tradable Asset's CP power. I have about 20K in Soul Bound asset power. The

Tracking this data show how fast thing can go up or down. I was in the ~$200 range for season 113 (see previous post).
My deck value peaked at around $580 before heading back down.
Summoner Levels (Soul Bound)
This is what my SB summoners look like at the end of the season. Nothing has changed from last season. I'm still waiting on the fourth level 4 summoner.
Over the next few months, most of them will be level 4 cards. Collecting a few cards each season can help with your deck progression. In Season 121, 2 SOUL BOUND Summoners moved up to LEVEL 4!
I aim to stay in Silver because as new SET gets released, I must start the process again. That means I must focus on a strategy I can afford: staying in the lower leagues.

Splinterlands is a #play2earn NFT game that can be fun and profitable. All it takes is some time and a few assets to play. Your number of assets should grow over years of collecting cards and rewards from the chest. I think value will come from owning as many assets as possible.
