Today’s review is about this interesting nollyhood drama title “The Story of Us”

Was so emotional when I watched this drama last night indeed our past can break us emotionally especially when its a sad memory we tried so hard to forget.

About the Movie

Marvel was raped at a young age (14 years) by a boy she loved and with his friends. She was drugged by them. Then she found out that she was pregnant at that young age, she visited the boys family and they sent her away saying their son is innocent.

This incident makes her to hate her child, after birth she abandoned her and run to the city where no one knew her.
She started a new life in the city, she got married to a businessman and had a daughter with him. She lives a comfortable life.

One thing she forgot is that we can’t run away from our responsibilities, it’s always coming looking for us. After the death of her mother (Pearl grandmother) she wrote a letter to Pearl with the address of her mother told her to go look for her mother. Its was easy for Pearl to find our mom in the big city (Enugu) but she finally did. Pearl received a shoced of her life when her mom denied her in front of her husband and the gatekeeper even with the evidence.
At first I thought she was trying to promote her marriage not knowing she was protecting herself from the pains of her past and everything that had happened then.

She hated her right from birth. Her husband was passionate about the girl since she didn’t have anywhere to go in the big city, he hire her to come work in his house just to give her shelter. Marvel husband was so nice to the girl, he treated her just the same way he treated his daughter. Marvel hate seeing her around her daughter, she despise everything about her. At some point i started judging her behavior, the girl was going through a lot already why is she maltreating her daughter this way.

Pearl didn’t give up. Due to her mom maltreatment she reached out to her aunty in the village asking about the story behind her child birth and why her mom hated her so much, her aunt told her everything. She was sad and she went to her mom knelt before her and begged her for forgiveness on behalf of his dad and friends. This memory flashes back to Marvel, all the memories she buried became alive and she was broken. She wasn’t herself for days this makes her husband and her friend so worried. They keep asking what happened, after much persuasion she told her husband about her past and everything that happened. This part makes me love love, her husband was so in love with her and he cares so much about her, he didn’t judged or get angry at her.

With the help of her husband, she apologized to Pearl and started seeing her as her daughter. Now she has two beautiful daughters.

What upsets me in this drama is when the parents of the guy that got her pregnant came to take her daughter. She was so pissed just as i was over here. Because your son is death , you now remember that he had a child that same child you rejected. At first she insulted them and sent them away from her household. Though after much plea from her husband she decides to forgive them and introduce Pearl to them.
