MoonKarts Card Rarities & Merging - Your way to Get More Fuels

Hey folks — glad you dropped by. If you're into blockchain gaming and want to get an edge in MoonKarts, then you’ll want to understand how card rarities and merging work. I've spent quite a bit of time digging into the mechanics, and here’s my take as someone who’s tested these systems firsthand (or at least studied them closely).
The Basics: Rarity Tiers in MoonKarts
In MoonKarts, every card you own falls into one of four rarity tiers: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. You’ll see all your cards under the “My Cards” section in the game, where color cues usually indicate their tier (green for Common, blue for Rare, purple for Epic, orange/amber for Legendary) as shared by community guides.
- Common cards are the easiest to get. They offer baseline stats and are great starting points for beginners.
 - Rare cards step things up: better attributes, maybe a bonus ability or two. They’re harder to obtain, often appearing via higher-tier packs or completing more advanced in-game tasks.
 - Epic cards are significant upgrades — you can expect much better stats or even game-impacting abilities. Getting them usually requires tougher challenges, events, or direct investment in decks.
 - Legendary cards are the top tier — rarest, strongest, and most likely to shift the balance in a race. Acquiring them is no small feat.

One extra level of rarity: Gold Foil cards. These are premium versions of any of the above tiers. They carry bonus effects and require fewer copies to level up. When you open packs, there’s a small chance a card will come as a Gold Foil. If you apply multiple gold foil cards to your kart, their rewards bonuses stack.
Leveling Up: Card Merging

The magic really begins with Merging — MoonKarts’ way to upgrade cards. No matter the rarity, you can combine multiple copies (“same level” versions) of a card to push it to the next level. As you level up a card, its stats get stronger, and in many cases, it can unlock new abilities.
This system is reminiscent of what other blockchain card games do (like Splinterlands), but it’s key in MoonKarts because a card’s rarity isn’t everything — how leveled up it is matters just as much. Also, the merging economy (how many copies needed, how much it costs, performance upgrades) is something MoonKarts promises to reveal more fully closer to launch.
By merging and upgrading, you make your cards more competitive, which then helps you perform better in races, unlock tougher challenges, and often earn more rewards.
If you treat your MoonKarts journey like building a racing team, then rarities are your raw material and merging is your fabrication shop. A Legendary card sitting at level 1 won’t necessarily outpace a Rare card that’s been merged up several times. The synergy between rarity, level, and gold foil bonuses is where the real competitive edge lies.
So whether you're just getting started or already neck-deep in the ecosystem, always keep your eyes on efficient merges, chasing Gold Foil upgrades when luck allows, and balancing rarity with practical upgrades. That’s how you turn a decent kart into a force on the track.
