Card Rarities & Merging - MoonKarts Feature

In MoonKarts, every driver, part, power-up—essentially every gameplay asset—exists as a “card.” But not all cards are created equal. The system of rarities and merging adds depth to progression and rewards both strategy and investment. Knowing how it works can help you build a stronger roster and maximize returns in races.
The Four Rarity Tiers
MoonKarts divides its cards into four ascending rarity levels. Each level brings stronger attributes and more exclusive potential.
Common cards are the baseline. They’re relatively easy to acquire, and they offer standard functionality. If you’re just starting out, these are your building blocks.
Rare cards step things up—they tend to include enhanced stats or special bonuses beyond what common cards offer. Earning them requires greater effort: better races, challenges, or purchasing higher-tier packs.
Epic cards are more exceptional still. They often carry abilities or features that can significantly affect gameplay, giving tactical advantages for those who can access them.
Legendary cards represent the top echelon. These are the hardest to obtain, often tied to high-achievement or special events—and they bring the most powerful, unique features.
Merging: Leveling Up Your Cards
Rarity tells you what kind of card you have; merging shows you how to make it better. Here’s how:
You can merge cards of the same kind to level them up. As cards grow in level through merging, their performance improves—think better stats, maybe extra abilities.
Higher level cards give you more leverage in races—whether through speed, handling, other modifiers, or even rewards. So it often pays off to invest in merging when possible.
Note: The detailed economics—how many cards are needed, how much merging costs, and what exact performance boosts you’ll get—are slated to be revealed nearer to launch.

Gold Foil Cards: The Premium Variant
On top of the standard rarities, MoonKarts introduces Gold Foil versions:
Any card (regardless of rarity) might come as a Gold Foil—these are much rarer and offer bonus benefits.
One key advantage: Gold Foil cards require fewer duplicates to level up via merging. That makes them more efficient to develop.
Their reward bonus is stackable—if you equip multiple Gold Foil cards you can multiply your rewards (for example, within your kart setup).

Final Thoughts
In MoonKarts, card rarities and merging aren’t just cosmetic. They form a core part of what separates casual racers from serious competitors. Common cards give entry; legendary or foil cards open up power. Merging ensures that even cards you already own can scale up, rewarding long-term investment.
