The First & Only Free To Play Pokémon Style Blockchain Based Open World MMORPG With Most Refined Graphics

I can't remember how I found this. But there is no doubt that most of us are always looking for games that can let us be the 'Ash Ketchup'. And the more similar, more real, the better.

I came to know about this game almost 8 months ago. And Alpha Access was being sold out for $25. 10,000 of them were available.

I bought one and when I tried the few iterations that were developed. I instantly felt it was something I would definitely like to play.

A monster style battling game. Where you can catch, keep and evolve monsters and be the boss of wilderness as well as PVP.

25 NFT's were available that could be claimed by playing the Alpha.

1 month into all the Alpha Access were sold out and were only available at the secondary market for $400.

Chainmonsters - The Overview

This game by B-Side studios is in development since last 5 years. Yea, you heard it right, they are working on this since 2017 but Alpha was launched in 2021.

B-Side has partnered with Rocksalt studios to make all the 3d gaming assets. Most of them are NFT's minted on Flow blockchain.

Contrary to this era when game assets and tokens are being sold years before any thing playable is scheduled for launch. Chainmonsters' first public sale was the Alpha access.

As it is already clear it is an open world MMORPG with splendid graphics. The base concept of the game is monster taming and exploring the world.

There are 8 elements namely - Crystal, Electro, Hydro, Geo, Cryo, Anemo and Pyro. Chainmons can be any of these types. Each element is characterized with certain strengths and weaknesses against the other.

The Chainmons can be levelled up by taking part in the battles in the wild or with the other players. And they can be evolved and equipped with gears too.

There is also an NFT marketplace (not in game yet), where you can buy and sell the gaming assets.

Economics & Play To Earn Potential

The game doesn't have a dedicated crypto token.

Strange, I know. But when I asked the developers at Discord at the time I joined. They said that they haven't even planned about having a token. And that their main focus for now is to develop a fun first blockchain based game. Also they believe more in player driven game economy and prefer to leave the value of assets in the hands of free market.

So the game economy revolves around exchanging NFTs for now.

The marketplace requires stable coin native to Flow i.e FUSD to trade any assets.

The Gameplay, Graphics & Visuals (Closed Beta)

At first glance, it doesn't look like a blockchain game at all. The graphics are so refined. And it feels lovely to interact with them.

You arrive in the world of Ancora. This first island out of the planned 8 consist of grasslands, settlements, tents, seashore and stone hills.

With various game items and wild Chainmons spanned over this area at particular spots.

The tent in the image above is the place where you'll meet Cyrus to start with your daily missions.

Running into a wild Chainmon automatically starts the battle mode. And from there you can either catch, or fight them or get out of the battle mode.

Other than this you can interact with some objects, find flowers and N-corp boxes. That reward you with various game items including these regular charges shown above, required to capture the Chainmons

Here is a nice spot that'll provide you a glance of this world. And these sprinkling stars, you can randomly find anywhere, are called mysterious anomalies. That you can investigate and find coins and other items.

How To Start Playing

The game is in closed beta and still in early development.

Limited closed beta keys were distributed and airdropped during mid December.

The only way to play right now is to have a closed beta access. Keys are being sold in secondary market for $12-$15 as of now.

Every closed beta access comes with a closed beta Season Pass, which has 50 tiers. You can complete daily quests to progress through these tires and claim some NFT's and items in closed beta.

As you can see 28 days are remaining until the beta season ends.

So you can still get your hands on some NFTs and also level up your monsters before the game is open for general public.

Or either you can wait for open beta to launch, and the game would be
accessible to all.
