Splinterlands Art Contest Week 209: Water Caller
Hi y'all! Here is another art I made for this week's contest. It took me sooo long to decided for the piece that I would want to make but in the end, I chose a semi-realistic portrait of the card Water Caller.
Here are my step by step process:
Step 1
I started by coloring the background gray. It helps me set the mood of the piece and also helps me get into the zone.
Step 2
I then began drawing my character in grayscale. I used a reference for this character which would be included in my reference section.I did not make any line art for this one since I want to practice a loose and bold way of painting.
Step 3
I, then added the hands. I drew it on a separate layer so I could edit it freely.
Step 4
I then adjusted the values of my grayscale.
Step 5
Next is I added the colors. I did this by setting the layer mode into overlay. This way, I don't have to redraw the grayscale I made earlier since the color will be adjusted based on the midtome and shadow part of the painting earlier.
Step 6
Next is I added some blush on her cheeks and some colors to the lips. I also added some colors to the skin but it was subtle so that it won't take the focal point of the piece.
Step 7
I then added the vignette.
Step 8
Then, finally, I aaded another subtle color but this time so that the eyes of the viewer will focus on the face to finish it up.
