Why It's Beneficial to Remove the Wild Pass in Splinterlands for SPS stake holders

Introducing a requirement for players to have a certain amount of staked SPS (Splintershards) to access Wild format without paying for Wild pass in Splinterlands can be a strategic move for several reasons. This approach not only enhances the overall competitiveness of the game but also strengthens the ecosystem by incentivizing long-term investments.

Changes:

Paying Wild Pass would be removed if your account has 200 000 SPS staked.

Each season there will be an increase of 500 SPS needed to be staked.

  1. Season-free Wild Pass: 200 000 SPS staked
  2. Season-free Wild Pass: 200 500 SPS staked
  3. Season-free Wild Pass: 201 000 SPS staked
    and so on...

Promotes Long-term Investment in the Ecosystem
Requiring a stake of 200,000 SPS to access the Wild format for free encourages players to commit to the game for the long haul. By increasing the threshold by 500 SPS each season, the game fosters a culture of consistent investment. This not only benefits the individual players who accumulate more SPS over time but also strengthens the game's economy by ensuring that a significant portion of the circulating SPS remains locked in staking, reducing market volatility.

As players strive to meet the increasing SPS threshold each season, they are likely to participate more in battles, tournaments, and other game-related activities, which can also drive demand for cards and other in-game assets. Or eventually, buy more of the market.

Wild Pass was originally made to remove the bot farms from the game. I think it was a successful mission, and we do not need to "punish" the invested accounts with this fee.

If I receive a lot of good feedback I will see if we can gather the funds from the community to raise a proposal like described. Ideas are welcome.

I like this idea. I might suggest we start it at 150k and work up from there because it was right around 150-160k, which gave you enough vouchers to play for free before.

I think this is an excellent idea because I agree with your points.

In addition, I have finally done the math on my accounts that are in wild, and I realize that there's no way it makes sense for me to keep most of them active in wild. So I will try to find scholars to play them in Modern or they will sit idle. The reason is there simply is not enough benefit in mid-gold level on down to cover the costs of the Wild Pass and the bot provider.

I'm not complaining at all and I'm fine with me not playing those accounts. I do think there is going to be a huge drop in accounts playing in wild though at the low end as it simply doesn't make any economic sense at all to continue with the lower rewards.

I 100% agree with the idea that the Wild Pass is a way to compel players to invest back into the system, and I voted for the proposal from Matt, plus I helped to fund the proposal to take away the paying of Vouchers too. So I'm not trying to undo anything that has been done, as I think those changes were definitely needed and good for the game. But I do like this proposal as an alternative way to encourage people to play in Wild.

I don't think this proposal will help much at the low end, but if it passes it should be a way to encourage some players to get some SPS to be able to play high Gold level and on up. I think that is a plus and thus I support this fully if it ever gets to a proposal.

I used to vote over 200 unique authors a day, many of which my vote was their only significant vote, and for over a year every post and every vote I would make would get downvoted for $50 because someone was sad I stopped the abuse they were voting on. I lost my ability to choose what I vote on years ago. It has finally stopped, so I started the burn posts to reduce the inflation due to the wreckless DHF spending. Everything that simplifies the game and creates long term investment is beneficial! Not sure I agree with the high sps inicial number or the constant build up, that would make it harder to keep up especially if SPS gets out of the hole; but with some number tweaks this is a very good idea!
