Weekly dCity Journal (19) (1).jpg

I'm back with another update of paying off student debt and rolling those students into their new hopefully very fruitful careers that provide me very lucrative tax refunds let's take a look at my numbers and what I'm doing now that I've added another hundred students that have paid off their debt boosting my totals to 400 students. I hope this might give you some idea of expectations that you can get from rolling your own students and if you think it's worth it to buy students off the market to do so.

Students who have Debt - No more Tax Refund - Now rolling students only makes sense!!

One of the great changes that was made a while back was the removal of the tax refund for students who became students in debt. This forced both players to be active and it created a nice Sim sink where players are required to burn Sim to convert students with debt into their new careers.

Now that students with debt lose their tax refund it only makes sense to pay it off and to push them forward in life.

Larger Sample Size, Better data - Now at 400 Students

I've been publishing an update at every 100 students, but I will admit that it takes me quite a while to both obtain 100 students and have them converted to 100 students with debt. I'm not sure if anyone else is tracking their results like this, I am now secretly wishing I had bought some students when they're on sale for a while for hive. I'm hoping my sample size of 400 will start to normalize the percentages and show a more consistent expectation for the future.

Lets Pay Off Debt and Roll those students into new Careers!
It's important to pay off that student debt so that they can be put into their careers. There's a bunch of different options that the students will be randomly pushed into as a turn debt to get a more detailed look head on over to the info tab on dcity to take a look. As you can see there's eight choices, but it's actually 9 when you factor in the potential of a hacker.

Like all things dCity - the Info pages have almost everything you need

New Careers and Benefits to your City,

Every career option that the student has provides a different path possible, while providing different pros and cons to your city. Not all roles are created equally but each one will provide different increases or decreases in years cities stats. Some of them give unique benefits like professors and scientists that can boost your creativity and education, or police that can help reduce crime.

Rolling 400 Students with Debt What are the Hot Careers?

Taking a look at my 400 rolled, the distribution is starting to become more normalized as where you can see you're most likely to get a policeman soldier and or economist about 20% time. With Eco activists coming in at just under 15%. The remainder of the possibilities are much lower, and some of them are extremely low. While this is great for options like hard workers and homeless, there are others that we would wish to get more frequently.

Lawyers and ECO Activists
lawyers in eagle activists are both really good if you're hunting for tax refunds. Lawyers given amazing 10 tax refund, all equal activists give to. These two can help combine to really help grow your tax refund amount that can provide income when taxes are extremely high.

Soldier
Soldiers are another favorite as they provide one more shares to your city. War shares are traditionally exceptionally expensive for the income they provide, but in the long term a steady income from war shares that tend to pay out regardless of taxes is something that many city managers prefer

Total Refund

As you can see I have converted 401 students, and I have managed to translate that to cards that provide me $426 Sim tax refunds. This means that even if students with debt still provided a tax refund, you would be better off converting them as I am showing an increase of 2.6% tax refund by converting the students.

Well this is a small increase, it is essentially a very easy way to increase your income from both students with debt, and your city overall as taxes increase to offset a struggling SIM price.

plans for the future

I plan on still acquiring and pain of the debt of as many students as I can. I think this is a great part of the game that can help to build back revenue streams for players while ensuring that those players are still active and not just letting the game sit idle for a long periods of time I hope to get another lawyer or hacker down the road as those are the clearly most valuable options out there.
