Good day Hive peeps!

I'm back again this time with my entry for this week's Splinterlands Art Contest.

My entry "Kelp Monster" is a picture of Kelp Initiate from Water Splinter, which makes me think of mysterious and unseen creatures of the waters around us.

Kelp Initiate

Kelp Initiate is a good tank on low mana cap battles when you're using water Splinter, specially before when Alric Stormbringer is still free to use, you just have to use him, then put Kelp Initiate on tank for the boosted magic users in the back to attack. Ahhh such memories 🥺

Drawing Process

Sketch / Outline

I started this drawing by sketch or what I call the dummy method

Sorry if it's not that good, I'm still practicing.

Now that I get rid of the sketch it's time for the real thing haha

Details

So I decided not to make him look as what he appears on the card, a bit chubby, I decided to make his body more fierce or with muscles. The abs!

Then now the line on his tail and on the kelp on his back, also the kelp that is hanging on his arms

Then the marks on his body, I think these are scars 🤔

Then the diagonal lines on his tails that forms division like areas. Well those give more details.

Coloring

Now on the coloring process I first colored his body, then proceeded on coloring him whole. I just based the colors that I used on the colors that he has on the card

Shadowing

On the shadowing process I also just base on the card because I'm still not that good at shadowing and didn't know where to put one, again I'm still practicing , please bear with me haha. Thanks!

Background

I learned that it is easier to make background when you're making it separated from the main part of your art. And I think it really is effective

So I just needed to darken it a little so it will really look underwater
