My Splinterlands Season Review And Analysis
Splinterlands is a complex and evolving game, you have to stay on top of all the changes if you want to optimize your earnings over the long term.
It is also very important to keep track of your performance and compare your performance with a previous season to see if there are any major changes that you might have missed.
First let's look at the big picture. One of the main sources of earnings in Splinterlands is SPS. Below is the graph of my total SPS earnings.
From the image you see a big jump in SPS earnings in Season 154, that is when SPS Validator nodes were launched. Then we see a rapid decline from the top in season 155 which was the first full season of SPS validation rewards that is when I was one of the first validator nodes and was in the top ten nodes before others caught up and surpassed my node.
From season 157 you pretty much see a steady decline until season 162 where the SPS earnings bottomed out and stabilized. There was a big pop in Season 163 where I did a modern experiment, but after calculating the numbers I came to the conclusion that playing in Wild league is more profitable at this time despite the increased SPS earnings in Modern.
I may repeat the Modern experiment some time in the future, but for now I am staying in Wild League.

As you can see I played exclusively in Wild League last season. My win rate is right under fifty percent. I guess I need a stronger deck to compete in Wild.
I have finished in the top 400 at rank of 382 and I bought some energy for Glint at the start of the season, when the cost of energy is at it's lowest, so my total battles were 503.

If we compare with modern season we see that modern ranked SPS earnings are significantly higher, more than twice higher, all other sources of SPS are also declining this season and because of that during my modern season experiment I earned 11,049.94 SPS which is almost two thousand SPS higher:

I never sell any cards, this might be a mistake, but I am a long term believe in Splinterlands and taking a few cents for some cards here and there does not appeal to me very much. I have a mind set of a long term investor, so if we do have another bull market in Splinterlands that is when I will take some profits and sell cards.
Reward draws purchased
As you can see my strategy is slightly different this season, I am starting to accumulate a little bit of Glint for the coming set of new reward cards, I want to max those out quicker, so I stopped buying Legendary reward Draws.
I am still buying the first tranche of chests to gain more energy and merits for maxing out my gladiator cards.

As usual no packs or land plots, but I did earn 93 energy which results in more battles and therefore more SPS earnings. Thirty four thousand merits is also nice as it helps me buy more packs from the Guild store.

When it comes to reward cards, I would say that chests were quite disappointing this time around. I got only three legendary reward cards from three hundred minor chests, one hundred fifty medium chests and thirty ultimate chests.
I am really hoping for a better luck this season.

This season I only advanced one league and never made it to the Champion two league which I normally do, this indicates that despite doing more battles I could not make it to the Champion two, is it that competition getting stronger or is it bad luck?

Closing notes
Another interesting item to look at is my Glint token earnings:
As you can see my Glint earnings are fairly stable with a slight long term growth, which is a very positive thing. When Glint rewards first started I was earning in 200K range of glint per season, then I moved up to 300k range, then 400k range and since season 157 I have stayed in the 500k range reaching towards 600K twice in the last two seasons.
I feel that I am on the right track, though my card collection is starting to fall behind just slightly which is something to keep an eye on and and analyze where the weak spots are.

Are you playing manually or with a bot? I'm wild must be harder than modern!
Wild is too hard without a bot... Everyone is botting there so you will be loosing all day to the bots, not fun...
Imho a wild only for manual would do, it would be a fun mode but not vs bots
I completely agree! I think it would have been better than Survival mode...
I'm thinking about giving up on my node. I've dropped down to 90 on the list now and it costs me more to have Monster Market host it than I am actually making in revenue. Yet another disappointment after such a long wait. I'm really losing hope in Splinterlands.
