Do Not Overlook Khazi Conjurer in Modern

One of my favorite Rebellion Reward cards is Kha'zi Conjurer. This two mana epric rarity monster packs a serious punch with six ranged damage, is very fast at five speed and has lots of health (five health points).

When this reward card first came out I was afraid of using it as it comes with an ability that made me take a step back from it: Incendiary. This ability is actually a big negative as starting with round two and each following round it applies Burning. Burning has a 33% chance of spreading to either adjacent unit at the beginning of each round. Then all burning units loose two health just like when they are affected by a poison.

With time I figured out that there are use cases where burning ability should not prevent you from using Kha'zi Conjurer such as when only monsters with four health or less are allowed, small mana battles and obviously Back to Basics ruleset where all monsters loose their abilities.

So why do I use it in small mana and four mana or less battles? Basically for the same reason, this unit is so overpowered that it is worth risking the burn to inflict such high damage on your opponent.

The Battles

Now that we established that small mana and back to basics battles are a good use case for Kha'zi Conjurer let's take a look at a couple Modern League battles where I used Kha'zi Conjurer.

First we have a small mana battle where I am using this card to win a battle against an opponent that is using a maxed out summoner and a maxed out Venka the Vile: Beating Venka the Vile

As you can see here we have an opponent in Modern that is using a maxed out summoner and maxed out Venka along with a maxed out Halfling Refugee. I also have a maxed out Halfling Refugee and a maxed out Kha'zi Conjurer, but unfortunately I am unable to use them at their maximum level due to my summoner being gold level only.

However even playing a league lower Kha'zi Conjurer is still a very effective monster in this ruleset. The ruleset is really small mana of only twelve with Silenced Archons, Aimless and Explosive Weaponry rulesets in effect. Fire, Life and Death splinters are available.

While Kha'zi Conjurer looses a point of damage by going from level six to level five it still is a very effective damage dealer with random target and splash damage from the Explosive weaponry ruleset. So let's see how it will do:

With the first strike Kha'zi Conjurer hits Venka taking him down to a single point and taking out their ranged attacker with a splash damage! Venka did manage to strike first inflicting seven damage on our tank, but that was the only time it was able to strike as it was taken out by our Flame Mephit.

In fact the only monster left standing at the start of the second round was their Halfling Refugee which took out our Halfling Refugee at the end of the first round:

That was the last shot their Halfling Refugee would be able to take before being taken out by a one-two punch from our Kha'zi Conjurer and Flame Mephit both of which caught the Blaze but stayed alive long enough to dispose of our opponent:

As you can clearly see Kha'zi Conjurer played a critical role in winning this modern battle and beating a team with a maxed out Venka which is also very deadly in these kinds of battles.

Second Battle Featuring Kha'zi Conjurer

As we saw this card is pretty good in small mana battles particularly with blast ruleset. Another great use case for this card is back to basics, this is where monsters loose all of their abilities which is a really good thing in the case of Kha'zi Conjurer.

Back to Basics Battle

Here we have a medium mana battle with twenty one mana points available to build our team. My thinking here is to use Kha'zi Conjurer as my main damage dealer and hide it in the very back of my lineup so that it can survive as long as possible and deal as much damage as possible until the very end.

The second part of my strategy here is to us Sheng Xiao summoner to place Poison Burst abilities on the two meat shields in front hopefully affecting with poison as many of the opponents as possible as early as possible.

In the first round our attackers managed to take out their first monster and affect their last two monsters, we did loose a meat-shield of our own in the process...

In the second round we took down another meat shied and now we have three out of four of their monsters poisoned:

And at the start of Round Three we win the battle:

Combination of poison strategy and strong offensive made this victory look easy!

Khazi Conjurer's ranged damage and speed make it a Modern beast!🔥 Don't sleep on this Rebellion card.

Now, if you really want to take full advantage of the Conjurer - combine it with Blazebeard Merc. Conjurer last, then the Merc, and then either a buffer or a painforge-monster. Just beautiful to see those two high-damage-piercing monsters rip through the enemy...

Now you have one to try! I have it as GF on lvl3 anyway, and forgot to rent this one out - your luck :-P Have at it for a while, let me know what you think. Especially great in low-mana battles.

Conjurer in back to basic is a must pick togheter with refugee

In other battle types it's good if you plan to do a quick win with mass damage

A bit too risky in my opinion if the monsters are more substantial :)
