Battlefield Breakthroughs: Tier Five Guild Brawl Battle

Introduction

When it comes to Splinterlands, one of my favorite game formats is Guild Brawls. And not because of the rewards, the SPS rewards are not that high and Merits really lost their luster as my Gladiator cards are almost maxed out at this point.

It is because this is the only format, where I get to be part of the team as well as competing against best players in Diamond League of the Brawl at Tier Five as well as getting ranked within my own team as well. This is really the most exciting format for me as a Splinterlands player.

The Strategy

My strategy for this battle was to use a force shield monster in front because the mana is high in this battle and I can get under really heavy fire. And the second part was to use a taunt monster so that I can split the damage between two of my most resilient monsters: Arkemis the Bear and Wave Brood.

In order to keep these monsters in the game as long as possible I have used two supporting monsters: Merdaali Guarding for main tank heal and armor repair and Angelic Mandarin for his triage healing and magic silencing ability.

I had only three real damage dealers: Arkemis the Bear, Diemonshark and Nerissa Tridawn.

The Battle

When I was setting up for this Brawl battle, my main concern was if I have enough damage. At forty nine mana this is a fairly high mana battle and the other side could bring really heavy guns. When I saw this lineup I immediately felt relieved as the two front damage dealers on the other side have five melee damage and my Salty Bear has a force shield so that should work fairly well. Let's see how it will turn out.

Wow the opponent used double inspire bringing the damage from their two attackers to fourteen, but because of the shield they didn't even put a dent into my tank. We are also doing better when it comes to the health of our taunt monsters. The triage I chose to put in really does help.

Now it is time for the round two and see if our good fortune lasts...

In the round two we were able to dispose of their front tank and not once but twice. Our tank is as good as new with the armor and health completely intact. We are still doing better with the taunt monster health and their taunt monster looks ready to go...

Round three was a really good round for us as we disposed of three of their monsters without loosing any of ours. The battle is won and it is only a matter of time before I put a win on the board for our guild!

And in round four it is all over, our team scored a much needed win for the YGG Legion guild!

Conclusion

What I learned here is that Arkemis the Bear is a great tank which works particularly good with a support monster like Merdaali Guardian that repairs it's armor and heals it. It also has great abilities such as Protect, Halving and most importantly forcefield that really took the wind out of their major damage dealers.

This battle also showcases the importance of splitting the focused fire by using a taunt monster such as Wave Brood in our case. And when I use a taunt in my backline I like to have at least one triage monster. In this case I used Angelic Mandarin as my triage monster. It also has a beneficial Silence ability that helped weaken the damage from their two magic damage monsters: Nerissa Tridawn and River Helondale.

And finally another important factor was boosting health of all of my monsters by using Possibilus the Wise and Merdaali Guardian. That extra health made my taunt monster even more resilient.
