Exode - First Impressions and Overview
Exode
This is an original space simulation game using NFT cards and other resources to simulate escaping human inhalation. A game starts by escaping a star base while it is under attack from the relentless pursuit of the enemy alien.
As I have a history of games, I usually classify a new game as a comparison to those which I enjoyed the most. In this case, there is nothing I have done that can compare to this, it is that different. Rather refreshing.

The entry cost of this game is very low in my opinion. For $20 US one can get a starter pack with each of the three faction starter packs enclosed. The starter packs individually cost $10 so the minimum cost is $10 to enter and play the game. You can get started with PayPal payment methods. The system runs on the HIVE wallet and if you have HIVE coin you can also purchase starters and cards on the market. If you go the PayPal method, you will only have access to starter packs. When you start and create an account, you will be instructed how to get your account setup. Be sure to create a referral code and give it to your friends. The game is in an Alpha state at the time of this writing. The team is working hard on building out the features they have planned for over the past one and a half years. Some of the planet investigation functionality is due to be released in the very near future.
The Market for cards, which are used to play the game, have been trading for a while now. The market is quite busy relative to the duration of the games existence. They have done it right with the market being one of the first things to have functioning so that captains can trade, buy and sell cards. It is a fundamental principal of operation that Exode assets are able to be placed on the market at the time that a captain acquires them. No holding periods.
The game play is very different. Being a simulation you are required to instruct your crew on what to do. There are all sorts of issues that come up as you are trying to evacuate the star base. Things like crew are in the infirmary, unknow location, comms off and crew getting shot. Choosing a team from your cards and using them for actions they are skilled for, makes things go much smoother. Every time you run a new game, which starts with the evacuation, the initial state is different. In Discord chat, the concept of rolling the dice is what is used to make most of the choices in the game. This basically ensures you will always have a unique experience.
The other thing I like about this game is you are not directly fighting someone else. There is no PvP aspect to the game at this time. The target is co-operative game play and the objective is to survive.
I am in this game. I have always liked space and strategy games, I am sure this will provide me with many hours of thrills. Being that its current state is Alpha and from what is stated in the White Paper, this will be one of those I stick with for years to come.
Check it out, judge for yourself.
