Jeopardy in a City of Death (WOTW S5W3)

avatar
(Edited)

It's warm being close to mommy. "I never want to leave her side," thought the 4-year old girl. She took a part of her mother's sweater and wrapped it about herself. The other bad people wouldn't find her if she stayed still. It brought comfort to her knowing that when mommy woke up, she'd be able to get the both of them back home where they could finally rest...

...but Mommy was dead, and she hadn't moved in a long time. The screams of bombs and barrages of bullets all around her forced her daydream away. She was going to die just like mommy and daddy had. There was no rescue from oblivion, but at least soon, she won't be worrying either.

Another sound of mechanical death and screams distracted her from the depression of her nightmare world. She turned to see where it came from and froze in shock as she saw men with guns approaching with a tank. They stood there talking and pointing in her direction. They were going to take her from mommy.

Chaos abounds, jeopardy at every corner; little did this child know that her salvation was at hand.

Epilogue

Ephraim.PNG
Maddie Koss - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Ephraim Mattos was a young Navy Seal who decided not to renew his military service. He wasn't interested in fighting for the United States anymore. Instead, he wanted to serve humanity. Seeing the horrors, he faced while in the service, he had a greater goal to achieve: help those suffering from the war machine.

He sold his house and the majority of his belongings. Next, he volunteered as a humanitarian warrior to provide relief and rescue to those families suffering in conflict zones. In his travels, he found himself providing relief and rescue support in Iraq one day. He and others in his group noted a surge of civilians fleeing from a different part of town.

When he and his other team members started to investigate, they found a horror they never expected. Hundreds of bodies of Iraqi civilians appeared gun down by ISIS fire. In the distance, he saw a little girl huddled against the body of her dead mother. In what others could describe as a suicidal rescue mission, he and his team started to make a plan that led to saving a little girl's life.

I love these Free Burma Rangers compelled by !LUV

I had to watch this video twice. That former Navy Seal Ephraim Mattos runs like lightning. I love his faith. He put everything in Jeopardy to save one young soul. It's heart moving to see these guys in action, especially the story you shared. I remember as a child in the times of stress only my mother could comfort me. This child already suffered the greatest tragedy before she was even five years old.

Mattos is amazing. I think he was 24 when he went off to join the Humanitarian volunteer services in conflict zones. He has his own company now called Stronghold Rescue and Relief.

He gives new meaning to the word

"After Service"

All jokes aside, my mind opened to see the influence of one person's life in our generation.

Thanks to Ephraim Mattos and his team for saving the girl, what would have happened if they hadn’t been around. I hope that this world becomes a better place someday, I also hope that these terrorists someday see that there really is no point killing people, after all we all will die someday, no one is here to stay forever. So why not let people be, and enjoy the little time they have come to spend on earth. May God open their eyes of understanding.

I am so so happy to be a part of WOTW again, it wasn’t that easy trying to get back in it, but thank God I am in it again. lets try again this week, I wish you all the best of luck 🤞.

Wow.
I guess I did my way here. Let's see how this goes. Jeopardy is something unpleasant, right.
Now, mixing jeopardy to a city where death abides is catastrophic.

Very true. I wish people were smarter in this world. Unfortunately, we aren't.
