I won 2nd place in the first #InLeoShowdown in Splinterlands
Yesterday was a fun evening for me! @splinterlands and InLeo co-sponsored a live tournament, hosted by @infidel1258. @psilence joined as well to co-host and later on @blazekos showed up as well.
We played 2 brackets and I had a really great start to the tournament, I won all my matches until the finals, where I faced flowless. The fun part is, that I actually beat flowless in the earlier elimination stage of the tournament, but he made his way up until the finals via a 2nd chance bracket. Great work from him to come back!
In the finals we played one RNG match, as we had the Explosive Weaponry ruleset, which often results in people picking Conqueror Jacek. We both did! I tried to put in a good amount of Reflection Shield and Coeurl Lurker as a Taunt-Tank. In case he didn't play Jacek, I think this could have saved me the win in 1st match. In the end, he won this round, which I think was a lot of RNG for both sides.
Our 2nd match was quite tricky, as we has Thorns + Super Sneak + 12 Mana only ruleset. I usually play Water or Life in this case. My immediate idea was to play Ilthain + Pelacor Conjurer, so in the front I am protected against all types of damage. However, I made some bad decisions afterwards, as I went for melee attack with some meatshield in the back. I did that, because Stitch Leech can actually survive Thorns in some cases, because it has Life Leech and regains the damage it takes from Thorns.
However, I miscalculated badly, because Tide Biter with reach from the 2nd spot attacks as a Sneak in this ruleset. And with the Reflection Shield, he didn't take any damage taking out my entire team. I thought he would need at least 4 rounds to kill my Pelacor (Divine Shield + 8 Life).
But it honestly didn't matter so much, because I didn't think to reach the finals anyhow. Of course, I wanted to win, but it simply didn't work out.
gg to all my opponents as thanks a million to all people involved in planning, hosting and running this tournament. I would be super happy to see more of this in the future, it has the possiblity to lift my beloved Splinterlands to a new level of visibility and fun.
In addition to 35 USD in LEO, I also got 3 Rebellion packs. Unfortunately, they turned out to contain only 3.5 USD of value after opening them. But this also doesn't matter. MORE LIVESTREAM TOURNAMENTS, PRETTY PLEASE <3

Congratulations on the 2nd place! What did you think to the format - I thought @infidel1258 and @psilence did a great job but there must be a better way of ensuring that players who enter actually turn up? Does the tournament structure on the splinterlands own website not allow for this kind of event already?? I know @aftersound has his tournament run through the website.
!BBH
I thought it was a good experience and they did a good job. Sometimes they were a bit confused, so a bit more structure would be good.
Running through the website would also be an option. But I kind of liked the self organization aspect and a visible bracket. Also having a 2nd bracket and coming back to win the thing like flowless did is not possible in SL.
I agree that the self organisation is a great thing and the new challenge system gives a great way of doing it (although I would have liked the 2nd round and finals to be a fixed format so we could see how people react differently to the same format live) it opens up the door to many creators running their own events on live streams on the fly
Hi thanks for the shout-out! I think we did it live to ensure we filled all the brackets with real people, in that moment. We'd prearranged who was playing, and some didn't show up, which would have made the tournament... Awkward. So we filled the empty doors from the viewers. I'm sure we'll find another way to improve on things next time :) Still learning the curve!
Yeah, don’t get me wrong it’s great to see live tournaments but I think it would have been better with a check in before the event and if over subscribed a qualifying round(s) for the final 16 - don’t think the website tournament set up allows double elimination so had to be manual.
Hey mate, first of all GG and congrats on the 2nd place, good job! Regarding the organisation, there are always things to improve, but I think Splinterlands and the Team should take this tournaments as the basis to arrange more and more live Tournaments. There is a lot of potential and for sure hundreds of players that would like to participate.
Maybe, due to time differences, several leagues/ conferences could be arranged: AMERICA, EUROPE and ASIA.
Thanks for the post mate!
Strong performance, congratulations!
thanks! I was surprised myself 😂
wow mate. Many congratulations. You're a Pro in splinterlands game
Far away from the top, but I genuinely enjoy playing
Congrats on your win! I'm glad you had fun, so did I! I hope we can do these tournaments now often and come up with a better way to organize them in the future once we've got some experience. Got those Splinterfest vibes off that tourney :)
Gratuliere!
