Not Just a Hobby But A Source of Money

Having a hobby that a person can enjoy gives us something to do during our free time in order to relieved us from boredom. By spending our free time on doing our hobbies, not only that we are able to entertained our selves for doing something that we love, it also allowed us to temporarily forget our problems and relieved us from stress. But oftentimes, people set aside their hobbies in order to prioritize earning money in order to live and provide for their families. Lucky for me because I was still able to do my hobbies but not only that. I was also able to earn money by doing some of the things that I enjoyed which I want to share with this post.
Earning by Gaming
Ever since I was a child, I do enjoy playing video and computer games and has been playing since the Play Station 1 era. I have spent thousands of times, playing different games which many of them I or my parents need to buy in order to play the game not to mention the console device that is needed to run them but none of them has been able to return the money that was spent on it. However, that completely changes during the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic with the rise of Web3 games that integrates Cryptocurrency and Blockchain technology and among those, I have discover the trading card game called Splinterlands. It is a play2earn game that uses a wide selection of NFT cards you either own or rent played under different rulesets against other players so strategy plays a big part to win the game. When I win a battle, not only will I enjoy the feeling of out smarting my opponent, I will also earn SPS which is their governance token and can be exchange on other types of crypto along with chest that could either contain more SPS or cards that can be used in the game or potentially be sold after it stopped printing.

Aside from that there are also guild brawls and tournaments I can join to earn more. My initial investment was only at 10$ to buy a spellbook where the earnings I used to re-invest to the game and throughout a year and a half of gaming I now have more than 1000$ worth of tokens and cards even as we are on the bear market. When the time comes that I get tired of playing the game, I can always sell my assets which was not an option for most of the traditional games. There are also other Web3 games that I played from time to time such as Rising Star and Quest for Stoken for Hive and Hunters on Chain on Polygon but I am mostly invested on Splinterlands since it was the game where I have the most assets.

Earning by Creative Writing
This other hobby of mine is a thing that I only discovered months after I started playing Splinterlands where it onboard me to Hive and there I was able to monetize my writing through making blogs. My initial blog only includes Splinterlands content since I was still new to the game consist of battle strategies and card reviews I learned to be a better player but I have come to like it and as I saw others making different content outside the Splinterlands community and reading them, it follows with me creating different content for other communities with the beginning of this year, sharing my stories and experiences on other people within the Hive blockchain.
What makes me enjoy writing is that I could also read the stories and experiences of other content creators where I could sometimes empathize with their stories or they have lessons in life to teach me all together with the engagement from the community that allows me to get to know other people little by little. What's more is that I do not need to spend any money on this, just some time and attention for creating my content which got the potential to earn Hive and HBD.

My hobbies are a very important part of my life. Not only that they provide escapism from my problems but they also provides me the opportunity to earn. Overall, I was really glad that I was able to discover and spent my time this hobbies.
Thank you for reading my post and see you at the next one!
No doubt, blogging through Hive is the best hobby that earns a good money and it didn't required any kind of special skill, just sharing our thoughts is enough and engaging with other bloggers. Thanks for sharing your story, it is nice to hear all that. Keep blogging!!!
It's not all the times that our post earns but I still keep on making it since it was fun and I was also able to learn many things from many other people.
Thanks for reading.
yes, that is so true and I see it many times with my post too, but as you said it is fun and it feels good to have a post ready on daily basis and share with your family and friends who are not on Hive who appreciates and share their thoughts on it. I am very famous at work due to my blogs hehehe
Nice! That is a great mindset to have.
This splinterland game is no joke and I find it really fascinating that people can play games like these and earn from it. That's truly amazing and I'm impressed with it.
Writing is another thing in your list. The creative industry is becoming really rewarding and writers are not left out. Hehe.
Well Done 👍.
Yep, and the continued efforts of the developers has enabled people to earn despite the bear market which I really appreciate and will be worth the wait to see what will happens with the bull run.
It's fun creating content and engaging with other writers. It also helps me to improve my English which is already worth the effort. Earning is just a bonus.
Thanks for passing bay! 😁
