Conclave Arcana Water Rewards

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Just yesterday, the third week of the weekly fortune draw has concluded, and unfortunately, I was among those who did not win any prize, but that is true for the majority of the players who participated, totaling 288,236 entries. Welp, need to move on now, and just hope that this week, I will win another card or in the next 49 weeks that the fortune draws will take place, and not just waste another 125 DEC.
Anyway, the topic for this post was to take a look at the new Conclave Arcana Water Rewards, which are made of 2 commons, 2 rares, 1 epic, and 2 legendary units.

Conclave Arcana Water Reward Cards
The Conclave Arcana Water rewards have been spread out among different bloodlines, and surprisingly, there are no Ogre units among the rewards, which can synergize to Gorgug the Endless as it was currently the only Water CA Archon available. Another thing that is quite curious to see is that among the fire rewards, there is only 1 unit with a range attack, while there are 4 melee units and 2 magic units. That said, I really do like the art for this new water rewards card, especially the common and rare melee units, that looks cool in Black Foil.
Surgeblade

Surgeblad is a melee Water unit with the Djinn bloodline. For 5 mana, it has fairly decent stats with max damage of 4, a max speed of 3, an armor of 5, and 4 health. Even though it will not serve as a good tank, you can still use this card in most of the case since it has the Charge ability that allows it to attack regardless of its position, and it also has the Blast ability that can inflict damage on the units adjacent to this card's target, aside from that, it also has the Reveal ability that can disable the Camouflage of the opponent team, one unit per turn, so that they can be attacked directly. I think that this card can be really good along with Elias Max Pruitt by giving it the Armored Strike ability during situations when the mana cap was more restricted.
Coralforged

On the other hand, Coralforged was a Water melee unit with the Elemental bloodline, which can serve as a decent tank, as it has the Shield ability, which reduces damage from both melee and ranged attacks, along with its 4 armor and 9 health that can absorb some decent damage, if not completely avoiding them with its Dodge ability. It can also provide good support with its Flank ability, which allows it to give the Reach ability to another melee unit that is in the second position, making it another unit that can be used by Elias Max Pruitt. That said, its Fury ability does not really synergize with the card, as it will likely be in the first position.
Surgehammer

Now, we're moving with the rare units, starting with Surgehammer, which is a melee Water unit that belongs to the Djinn Bloodline. It has a 6 mana cost, for a card with the Opportunity ability that can attack the opponent with the lowest health and has the Flying ability that is great during Earthquake ruleset. Compared to the previous 2 units, it has weaker damage, but it has Repair that could restore the armor of an ally unit, as well as Cleanse that could remove a negative status effect to the first position card. Once again, I think that this card synergizes well to Elias Max Pruitt.
Torrent Sniper

Torrent Sniper was the card that I revealed before the release of the Conaclave Arcana rewards. Unlike the first three units, which were all melee cards, this one has a magic attack and does belong to the Avian bloodline. It has 3 speed, 9 health, and 3 armor, which is good for the mana cost of 7 that can attack any non-melee unit that is closest to the first position with Snipe, as well as the Weaken ability that will reduce the health of all opponent units by 1 as long as this card remains in play. What's interesting though, is its Painforge ability that allows it to have increased magic every time it gets damage by Poison or burning effects. While we do not yet have an Archon that could share its bloodline to this card, I think there will be some good plays that can be made using this card when it is given the Poison and expose ability from Cryptic or if it were given the Blast and Magic Reflect ability by the upcoming Archon, Loving the Moo.
Wailsworm Specter

For the only Epic Water reward, we have the magic unit Wailsworm Specter, which belongs to the Undead bloodline. For 6 mana, it only has 4 health, 2 speed, and 3 damage, making it not really great for long battles, which is fine because it is meant to be defeated right away for it to trigger its Bloodline Tribute ability, and increase the stats of units that share the same bloodline with this card. Aside from that, it also has Amplify, which will increase reflective damage, and Weaken, which reduces the health of all opponent units. But what's really interesting about this card is its Invigorate ability that prevents any ally unit with Weary from being exhausted as long as this card remains in play, making it a good card to use when playing units such as Halfling Refugee and Heloise the Hollow.

Invigorate -Allied units can not be Exhausted.
Sten Slatehelm

Sten Slatehelm is the only range unit among the Water rewards, and has the Dwarf bloodline, making it a unit that can be summoned by the Fire Archon Fithe Bladestone, For only 2 mana, it has pretty good stats with a speed of 3, an armor of 5, health of 6, and 2 damage while also having the Armored Strike ability since it has Close Range ability that allows this card to attack even at the first position, as well as Resurgence that will revive this card with 100% health. The only downside of this card is that it has the Reckless ability, which will damage adjacent units every time it attacks. So, unless what was next to it was a unit with something like Painforge, it can also result in losing your team from friendly fire damage.
Kervic

And now, we finally go through the last card Kervik, another melee card that belongs to the Rodentian Bloodline. For only 4 mana, it is quite a menace with 5 damage at max level, that can attack your backline units with Sneak and likely remove some of their abilities with Expose, while also providing frontal support with Tank Heal, though it only has 2 speed and 4 health which can easily make it a target of Sneak and Opportunity attacks. That said, it has the Camouflage ability, so unless the opponent has units with Reveal ability, this card is pretty much safe from those types of attacks.

Closing
And that was it for my early assessment of the Conclave Arcana Water rewards. It will take a long time for me to complete this set, and with the upcoming Archons as well as the mini-set, the card dynamics are likely to change, but my overall impressions of the card were highly positive but the biggest shocker really is the sudden change in the art design, in a positive way.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
