The Jolly pigeon
The Jolly Pigeon went on a curious quest for a painting of a melon—something it occasionally enjoyed smashing. To my husband and me, this seemed rather odd, but not to the Pigeon, who thought the idea was brilliant. In the end, a painting of a melon was exactly what it picked.
Next, the Jolly Pigeon frantically searched for a teapot, one it liked to insert into unexpected places now and then. My wife and I found this idea quite shocking, but not the Pigeon—it found the notion thrilling. And so, a teapot became the chosen object.
Then, the Jolly Pigeon hunted for a rubber johnny, which it sometimes attempted to nail to the wall. A strange project, at least to my parents and me—but not to the Pigeon, who found the concept endlessly amusing. Sure enough, a rubber johnny was the item of choice.
The Jolly Pigeon had an urgent desire for a stapler—one it occasionally played with for fun. To many, that might sound outlandish, but not to the Pigeon, who believed it to be a magnificent idea. So, yes, a stapler was the clear winner.
After that, the Jolly Pigeon sought out a custard pie, something it loved to cuddle regularly. A peculiar habit, some might say—but not the Pigeon. To it, this was simply part of life. And indeed, a custard pie was what it chose.
Finally, the Jolly Pigeon carried around a chocolate bar, one it often brought into the bath with him. My grandfather would have found the whole thing quite ridiculous, but not the Pigeon—it thought it was utterly fantastic. And without question, a chocolate bar was the selected companion.
