Conclave Arcana is impressive

With the release of the latest set, Conclave Arcana, I’ve decided to jump back into playing Splinterlands. A lot has changed since I last played actively, but the core of the game remains the same—build your deck, battle others, and aim for victory. Simple enough, right?

One major shift I’ve noticed is the growing emphasis on land. Honestly, I completely missed that wave. Or maybe it hasn’t left the station yet—I'm still not sure. I’ll need some time to figure out if I want to invest in it, and if so, how much. But that’s a topic for another time.

What really caught my attention is that, for now, you can battle in the Wild format for free. Normally, you’d need to pay a fee to participate, so this is a great opportunity—especially for returning players like myself. Most (if not all) of my cards fall under the Wild category anyway, so Wild it is. I’ll also need to consider how much I want to invest in Conclave Arcana, but that decision will come with time—and a bit of research.

Today, though, I want to talk about a Wild format battle I recently played. But before I dive into that, I want to give a quick shoutout to fellow 'old-school' players: Wild and Modern formats weren’t even a thing when I last played. Feeling a bit nostalgic? Yeah, me too.

According to the official post, Splinterlands is celebrating the introduction of the new Bloodline mechanic. You might be wondering, “What’s that?” Think of it like an extra layer on top of the traditional Splinters—Fire, Water, Earth, Undead, and Neutral. Now, your monsters can also belong to a Bloodline, like “Dwarf.” Certain abilities interact with these Bloodlines—like Bloodline Tribute, which boosts monsters that share the same lineage.

To promote this new feature, Splinterlands has made the Wild Battle Pass completely free. Normally, it would cost 2,000 DEC, but for now, everyone can jump into Wild battles at no charge.
