There's a poll going on about whether to create a Conclave Arcana mini-set. Looking at the comments,

"Don't add any more cards, it'll just dilute the value of older cards!"

There seem to be some opinions like this, but I thought that core sets and subsets were released regularly as a set, so it feels strange that there's no subset like there was with Rebellion.

I can't help but think back to MTG, so I can understand how older cards will fall out of use and lose value except for a few collectible cards.

However, unlike physical cards, Splinterlands cards are digital data, so playing them won't damage them and reduce their value, which is nice.

Now, as for whether or not past cards can maintain their value, I don't think it's possible.

In Wild, all cards are playable, so your assets won't go to waste, but you have to purchase a season ticket to participate. Also, powerful cards are very expensive, and often impossible to buy even if you have the money.

The Chaos Legion set alone has so many cards that it's priced lower than Modern-legal cards, but that's understandable considering the extraordinary number of cards printed.

On the other hand, the cards legal in Modern are the most recent two sets. All cards except the most powerful ones are cheap, but if Splinterlands continues to sell card packs at a steady pace, cards will be rotated out of Modern in about two years. Cards that rotate out of Modern will become unusable, so you'll need to keep buying new cards.

The number of people playing Wild will gradually decrease, and you won't be able to match up. Furthermore, the rewards aren't much compared to the amount you spend. So, of course, everyone will stop playing.

Of course, everyone except the old players will play Modern. No one would want to play Wild if they can't win. Modern, where you can buy new cards and play, is better.

That's why supply and demand drive down the prices of older cards.

Let's take a look at the contents of the mini-packs. There are 43 card types, including Standard, Alchemy, and Legendary packs.

That's a total of 325,000 packs. This is about 1/20 of the planned sales of 5,850,000 packs of the Conclave Arcana core set.

Considering that the ratio of Chaos Legion to Riftwatcher is 1/5, this is quite a low number.

Is the print run low because too many cards would go unsold and lower the price? Personally, I'd prefer them to print more and lower the price.

The price of a pack has gone up a bit, to $5. It seems you can purchase it for 5,000 DEC or 350 SPS. Converted at current token prices, that's $3.90 for DEC and $2.91 for SPS, so it's a pretty good deal.

I'm sure token prices will rise before the actual release. It might be a good idea to stock up on SPS now.

I feel like the Conclave Arcana cards aren't quite enough, so I'm happy to see more cards. With a limited number of cards, it's easy to just play certain cards.

It seems like there's a lot of support for this. I'm also in favor of selling mini-sets. It would be nice if they printed a larger quantity and lowered the price, though.

It would be fun to see how many were sold on a dashboard, like this comment says. I think I'd probably buy the individual cards instead of the full packs, though.

However, looking at the comments, it seems like there are mixed opinions.

These comments seem critical of the mini-set release. I think the reason for the criticism is "value dilution due to the increased number of cards," but this probably means they're looking at cards as assets rather than as part of the game.

If we think of it as assets, does the value of each card decrease as the total number of cards increases? It seems like the value of cards that have already been retired from Modern doesn't change much, but I wonder.

For example, here's a card I own that was expensive:

The current price of Camila Sungazer is apparently $150. I think it cost about $500 when I bought it a long time ago. 😢

But I think the reason for this drop is the split into Modern and Wild, the 2,000 DEC fee required per season in Wild, the overwhelming bot power, and other factors that resulted in a sharp decline in the player population, leading to a lack of demand.

It probably won't go down even if a mini-set is released. In fact, it's probably already gone down to the bottom...🤣

I think the game is probably better off with more cards. It's not good to upset the game balance, but it's more fun to have more variety.

As assets, the prices of cards that have been retired from Modern have dropped so much, I wish they would somehow raise them. Their value has dropped so much since I bought them, and I'm really sad.

I guess that's how it is?

I've given up, thinking of the assets I've paid for so far as payment for the fun I've had over the past four years! With a normal card game, you can't sell cards you've bought and get your money back.

Let's look forward to the mini-pack releases so we can continue to enjoy the game!

However, I'd be happy if they could increase the value of older cards as well 😂
I don't think the Chaos Legion cards will be worth much, though.

コンクラーベ アルカナのミニセットを作成するかどうかの投票が来ていますね。コメントを見ると

といった意見もあるようですが、私としては定期的にコアセットとサブセットがセットで発売されるものだと思っていたので、リベリオンのようにサブセットが無い方が違和感がありますね。

私はどうしてもMTGを思い出してしまうので、過去のカードが使われなくなって一部のコレクション的な価値を持つカード以外の価値がなくなっていくのはなんとなくわかります。

しかし、Splinterlandsの場合はリアルな紙のカードとは違いデジタルのデータなのでプレイすることでカードが傷んで価値を損なう事が無いのはうれしいですね。

さて、過去カードの価値を保てるかどうかという話ですが。私は無理だと思ってます。

ワイルドではすべてのカードを使えるため持っている資産が無駄になることはないですが、参加するためにシーズン毎にチケットを購入する必要があります。また、強カードは非常に値段が高いうえにお金を出しても買えない事も多々あります。

カオスレギオンセットだけはあまりにも枚数が多いのでモダンで使えるカードよりも価格が安いなんてことになっていますが、それはまぁ尋常じゃない枚数が印刷されたのでしょうがないですね。

一方、モダンで使用できるカードは最新の2セットです。超強いカード以外は安く買えますが、順調にSplinterlandsがカードパックを販売していくと約2年ほどでカードはモダン落ちします。モダン落ちしたカードは使えなくなるのでどんどん新しいカードを買う必要がありますね。

ワイルドでプレイする人はどんどん減ってマッチングしなくなる。さらに、報酬も掛けた金額と比べると多いと言えない。そりゃ、みんなやらなくなるよ。

当たり前ですが、古残プレイヤー以外はモダンをプレイするでしょう。どうやっても勝てないワイルドをプレイするわけがありません。新しいカードを買って遊べるモダンのほうがいいですね。

そういうわけで、需要と供給で古いカードの価格は下がってしまうわけです。

あんまり多すぎても売れ残ってカードの価格が下がるから少なめなのかな？個人的には多めに印刷して価格を下げてほしいような気もします。

パックの価格はというと、ちょっと上がって5ドルですね。 DECなら 5,000 DEC、SPSなら 350 SPS で購入できるようです。現在のトークンの価格で換算すると DECなら 3.9 ドル、SPSなら 2.91 ドル とかなりお得です。

実際に発売前になったらトークン価格が上昇することを見込んでいるでしょう。今のうちにSPSを用意しておけばお得かもしれません。

このあたりのコメントはミニセット発売に批判的ですね。おそらく批判的な理由は「カードを増やすことによる価値の希釈」だと思うんですが、これはゲームとしてではなく資産価値としてカードを見てるという事でしょうね。

資産価値として考えると全体の枚数が増えることで1枚の価値が下がるという事なんでしょうか？すでにモダン落ちしているカードに関してはあんまり価値が変わらないような気がしますけどどうなんでしょうね？

例えば私の持ってる高価だったカード

CAMILA SUNGAZER の今の価格は 150 ドルだそうです。昔買ったときは 500 ドルくらいしたような気がするんですけどね。😢

でも、この下落の原因はモダン、ワイルドに分かれ、さらにワイルドではシーズン毎に 2,000 DEC 支払わなくてはいけなくなったり、bot無双だったり、これらの結果プレイ人口が激減したせいで需要が無くなってしまったんだと思っています。

多分、ミニセットが発行されたところで下がらないでしょう。というか、既に下がり切ってるというか...🤣

たぶん、私の中ではゲームとしてはカードを増やした方が良い、ゲームのバランスが崩れるのは良くないけどいろんなことをできるほうが楽しい。

資産としてはモダン落ちしたカードの価格が凄く下がってるから何とか上げてほしい。買った時からかなり価値が下がっててとても悲しい。

今まで支払った資産は4年間楽しませてくれたことに対する支払いだと思ってあきらめた！普通のカードゲームだったら一度買ったカードを売って元の資金が返ってくることなんてないもんね。
