RE: A sad realization about Splinterlands Hive Resource Extraction :(

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

They aren't "surviving off working on HIVE"... They are "surviving because they found people GIVING AWAY money and they refined their way to extract it".

This is flawed logic. They are promoting the game and that is the purpose of the fund that fuels their content. A game creator doesn't have to pay anyone for free promotional content in this space if they have a large pool of HP to curate with. Project managers need to learn how to market better using all this content.

I disagree with this because they are doing it across every single "Art Contest" on HIVE.

There are tons of artists who don't win but submit content... it's the same crowd at the top, repeatedly.

They are talented, have refined their work and yes you confirmed what I said...

The Game Creators have a large pool of HP to curate with... and they need to ensure they are not giving it away to the same people every week who extract 100% of it... should be part of their duties.

If you want to ensure the game is being promoted correctly why not, then shame the folks who consistently give away their vote instead of those who do the work? project promoters need to ensure these projects are actually being promoted instead of being exploited purely on hive for hive. It could be as simple as requiring a link to offchain activity where the post is being promoted like with POSH. Why would the project grow if we are only sharing in the space that it is being developed?

I have a more relevant question? Why do you believe shame and not education to be the most effective method of correction here?

Shame is a fantastic tool but imo should never be the first tool one reaches for when attempting to influence the decisions of others.

To your point, I specifically said "The flaw resides with the Reward System and not the people, the people are merely a product of the flawed system."

The Splinterlands Social Media Posts are exactly that - you must post your offsite link. The Art Contest could add that but I also have an idea of how to fix it (and others).

as you stated the rewards system carries the flaw as it does not require actual marketing to take place outside of the platform. in order for these rewards to be as fruitful as possible this should be the standard. provide proof of sharing offchain and actual marketing for the work to be considered for rewards of contest. it's very simple but project managers will say its too much work to actually verify every backlink lol meanwhile artists have spent hours on the artwork...
