The wings are particle instances rather than particle hair? Did you use different feather models for the front and back of the wings? I found it wraps weirdly if you don't but it's not like I really know what I'm doing either.
If you were going for the plushie look you totally nailed it :)

I don't know much either, but I want to try it, and with the fur it was the best I could achieve, you have to practice a lot to master it.
