Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

Hi splinterlands farm,

Welcome to my blog for another interesting entery into the splinterlands social media challenge. I call it an interesting entery cause by the time you finish reading my entry you might have learnt a thing or two on how to get past a stubborn opponent or some of the tricks you'll use when you come across certain rulesets or certain line ups.

As I have always said and will keep on saying; splinterlands is an evolving game and things that you knew a few months ago might be things which aren't applicable any more. Why am I even saying a few years ago? Things that you knew a few months ago will not be applicable if you don't try to keep up with the updates.

My brother, who is also an spl player recently told me that after logging into the game a few weeks ago after his long break from hive seemed like a new site all together. He said he was lost for a few minutes but then since he is a player he would have known how to navigate the platform after some time.

Last season I was able to make it to champion I; the highest league on spl and I was super happy. I didnt think I could make it to champion I cause I had made it to champion II only a few days before. Previously, I'd make it to champion III and then get beaten back down again but this time it didn't happen that way.

I must say that getting into champion I wa a bit of an experience for me. In champion I you get to see different crop of players and sets of cards which you've never even played against before. You also get to meet strategies which are so new to you but with time you get a hang of it. Playing in last seasons champion I taught me a few things which I use now.

So as usual, I'll be talking about one of my battles. I like talking about my previous battles cause they are exciting to talk about and to also see how I was able to maneuver and beat a certain opponent which in all honesty I didn't think I could beat after looking at his or her line up.

So let's talk about one of the rulestes that I dont like coming against. In this particular, it was mixed with 2 rulesets that I didn't like and it was honestly a surprise that I was able to navigate past it.

The two rulesets in this case were earthquake and target practice. For earthquake, it means that all non flying and shared units take two physical damage at the beginning of each round starting round 2. The thing about this particular ruleset is that it can aid your opponent to beat you even if you seem to have an upper hand.

The target practice ruleset means that all units with magic and ranged attacks have snipe. This means this card will target non-melee cards first and aim to kill them before attacking other cards.

So then the third ruleset was lost magic which means you won't be able to use cards with magic attack. I kind of liked a ruleset like this because this would mean the target practice ruleset will only target the range cards. So with this rulesets in mind I went in for the risqruel drath summoner. This summoner is a fire and earth summoner which has the flying ability. I specifically went for it because of its flying ability.

Choosing a summoner like this also meant that my cards will have the flying abilities. This also means that I'll be able to ignore the earthquake ruleset in this game.

With all this I went in for huge mana cards cause the mana of this game was as much as 52. If you play in a high league you'll know the importance of this high mana.

My first position card was chaos golem. This is a melee card with the retaliate ability as a go pick me up point. I'll specifically go for this card as my first position card because of its retaliate ability. Next in line was orbinium graybrow. This is a card that catches my eyes because of its spite, piecing, magic reflect and resurgence ability. This card has 6 abilities and I can't single out one that's more important than the other. The thing about this is that it has low health but it makes sure you enjoy using it.

The reason why I picked it with this particular summoner is because I gave it the redemption ability of the summoner.

Next in line was the quilliun legionary range card. This card has the thorns ability and can attach from first position and in all honesty, that's the reason why I picked it.

Next was the halaran huntress card. A melee card which can attack from anywhere. Next in like was sylvaran sentinel card. Its a range card and I only picked it cause of ogs resurrection ability. Last card was fenmoor wood troll range card and in all honesty I picked it cause I had a huge mana left.

My opponent went for a rather different line up. He didn't come with a flying summoner but it did have shield abilities. This shield also helps with the earthquake ruleset.

The game lasted 4 rounds and to my surprise I didn't loose any cards in this battle. You can always rewatch the game with this link.
