Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Going The Distance

source
Hi splinter fam,
Its another week and here I am with a social media entry into the splinterlands contest. Last week I wrote about an awesome battle and i kid you not I enjoyed that one. From the game it self to the post writing. This week I've been playing actively and I am enjoying it. There has been a lot of changes to spl over this past month and I tell you its a lot. From the UI changes to the gameplay it self.
If you haven't played the game for a while you probably wouldn't know that the UI from a few months ago has changed a lot. You'll get confused when you log in but then I believe you'll get a hang of it. For now to get ranked on the leader board you'll need to play 100 games before you get ranked. For me, I think 100 games is easily achievable even for someone who doesn't play everyday. The season lasts for 14 days and if you play just 8 games every single day you'll make 100. I think this change is a good one. This is why, in the previous seasons you get ranked in the highest league that you finished thr previous season. Now some people rank so high that even if they don't play in the new season they can keep their new positions on the leaderboard. Essentially depriving people from getting into the leaderboard.
For me, 100 games is not a big deal even though now I guess I'll play less and less games but then I can still do a minimum of 20 games per day. Nornally I do close to 40 games per day but for now it'll have to reduce.
For now, I think its becoming hard to advance once more ever since the new card sets were released. More and more cards are getting into the market so people have to chance to rent and also buy so they can use it. I've not had the time to explore the market but I guess maybe prices of cards have reduced.
So for this contest I'll be writing about a battle. With this kind of posts one has the chance to learn about how another player navigated a certain ruleset and opponent to win. For some time now I've spoken about rulesets that I don't like seeing in battle but I've never spoken about the going the distance ruleset. This is one ruleset that I don't like as well. The thing is I have a summoner that'll give all the cards close range but then it's not at max level.

This means that if I use it it'll reduce the max level of my cards and not grant me the abilities that I want or need in the game. Since I can't use that once the only way is to use a different summoner. That is what I want in for the sheng xiao summoner. This is a summoner that I enjoy using a lot. I've been spamming it round in battle and 8 out of 10 times I win those games. The poison burst is always a win for me.
So the other rulesets were armored up and equal opportunity. The equal opportunity ruleset makes it hard for me to choose very good cards at times. There are times where you want to select very good cards with high speed and high attack but they will have low health and with the equal opportunity ruleset in play you wouldn't even dare. But with the poison burst i intentionally went for two cards with low health prompting my opponents cards to go for it.
I also decided to put syrenth as my first card. This card has the taunt ability so I decided to go in for it so it'll be attacked first. It has good health so I granted it the poison burst ability so it'll be of a good addition.

I won the battle in the dying minutes. At times having cards with the backfire ability helps a lot. It was a contributing factor to this win as well.
You can watch the match here to see how it went.
