Splinterlands 6 Year Anniversary- My Spl journey

Welcome to my blog for another entry into the Splinterlands social media challenge. This time around we have a different theme as Spl is approaching their 6th anniversary. 6 years in a hive for a game is not an easy feat and even though some people might not like most of the changes that have come to the game we cannot deny the fact that being on hive for 6 years and still thriving is really really hard.

I’ve spoken a few times about how I started playing Spl and I think the story is not a unique one. Like most people when you join Hive you see people post about Spl. Yes, it was the same story for me. When I joined Hive it was the same thing for me. I must admit that when I first saw this entry I didn’t pay a lot of attention to them cause I was new to Hive and all I wanted to do was to thrive on the platform.

A few months later I decided to join but then I didn’t know how to play. A friend of mine who had a lot of interest in the game also decided to join so I was glad cause finally I had someone who was close to me and was willing to join immediately so we could see how it was. Fast forward to a few weeks later I was convinced and since I had someone who could teach me how to play I joined.

How long I’ve been playing Spl has always been a question which catches me off guard. I say it catches me off guard because I never pay attention to this type of detail. But then from my recent calculations, I’ve been playing Spl for less than a year.

For me, it’s getting to almost a year or so I think. On second thought, nope it’s not getting to a year as I’ve been playing for less than 8 to 9 months so I can’t classify it as almost getting to a year.

When I started playing I was overwhelmed by the game. I used to play it all the time and believe it or not I used to spend most of the days playing. I could consume all my energy and buy again. I used to play it a lot and my preferred league was the modern league. Fast forward to a few months and the time I spend playing Spl has reduced significantly. This is due to a few personal factors though I still spend time playing it but it’s not like first.

Well, I don’t know for you but being able to reach Diamond I in less than a year is a pretty big accomplishment in my books. When I started playing getting out of bronze was a hard feat for me to accomplish because I didn’t even know what most of the cards could do. When I finally left bronze to silver I was amazed at how I could do it. I thought getting into gold would take me a year or so but then I was wrong. A few months later I am playing in Diamond and hoping to hit champion before the season ends.

I’ve been actively involved in a lot of initiatives ever since I joined. Some of the initiatives are the rebellion sale, conflict and other stuff. Even though I’ve not been able to get a conflict card yet due to my low score when each round ends, am still actively involved in it.

Should I also add that the acquisition of land is no small feet? Well, I have a land as well.

For now, I have different goals on Spl. The game has changed so much ever since I joined so it seems pretty hard to decide on a single goal and work on it.

For now, I aim at getting into a champion. This is not a long-term goal as I plan on doing this before this season ends. If am not able to get into champion before then, I’ll be aiming to do that next season.

For now, the modern league has become tough to play in but am looking to get back into playing there. I want to acquire some of the cards used there through delegations from a good friend of mine and then I’ll be back there ASAP.

What advice will you like as someone who is just starting the game? Strategy, patience and a lot of playing will help you go far in the game.

When I joined I was very much interested in getting out of the novice stage cause I wanted to start earning SPs for winning games. But then a good friend of mine told me to just play and enjoy the game as these achievements and earnings will come as I play and get used to the game. Now I earn close to 0.4 sps per win for battling.

When you first enter you should also concentrate on entering a guild. When you’re In a guild you get the chance to learn from people who are better than you in the game and one more thing, when you battle your concentration should be on learning to play not just winning the game. When your opponent comes up with a card or lineup you’re unfamiliar with try and learn how to use those cards as well.

This is the little I have to say about Spl.
